Having coached high school softball for 47 years, I definitely believe there's an advantage in wearing metal cleats versus molded cleats for traction, change of direction and sure footedness on properly maintained fields, and I was very pleased when they were finally allowed by NFHS rules a decade ago. Therefore, when my granddaughter entered her Jr. High program this year, I immediately looked for a pair for her to wear (and yes, before you ask, metal cleats are allowed in Jr. High as well as HS under NFHS rules). I provided my HS team with leather shoes which usually lasted throughout their four year careers, but they were very pricey. However, for a 7th grader who hasn't stopped growing yet, I felt that a more affordable synthetic shoe was a much better choice, and after doing diligent research, I decided that the Mizuno Women's 9 was a very good choice. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VTFHVJI/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0I chose the Black/White, but there were many other colors available also. The shoe looks great and fits her perfectly with the size ordered. Some brands run smaller or larger than the usual shoes kids wear, and you need to check on this when shopping around, but these were a true fit for her usual size. One thing a player wearing metal cleats for the first time should know is that they "bite in" stronger than molded cleats when sliding, and poor sliding techniques, especially with the bottom of the foot down to the ground, could cause the player to roll or jam an ankle on impact with the ground. Having sad that, I never had a player suffer an injury from sliding with metal cleats, since we taught the correct form and it was executed properly. Another advisory warning is that these shoes are to be worn only on the field, so put them on only after arriving at the field. Don't wear them out of the locker room, walking on paved surfaces or getting on the bus. That's not good for the cleats or these other surfaces. If your school/team doesn't already have guidelines there, be proactive and wear them only on the field. That's just common sense.
My 13 year old daughter likes these. We purchased for Middle School fast pitch. I slipped them on my feet and they felt cushy in the heels and forefoot. I never had cleats this comfy when i was a kid. They lace up comfortably and don't rub your ankles the wrong way. My daughter has a wide foot and is usually a 10-10.5 in a womans shoe. We ordered the 10.5 and they are a good fit. There is about inch of space at the end of the shoe. When I saw size 10.5 on sale for $32 I knew these were meant for her. What a steal!
Outstanding shoes for a great price!!! These are the most popular shoe on my daughters varsity softball team. She loves them for the comfort and durability. They came in the exact sizing as expected from Mizuno. Fast shipping by Amazon so she was right back in the game replacing her old pair of Mizuno's.
My 15yr old plays travel fast pitch and she loves Mizuno. They are so light so they add some speed. The tongue is attached which helps it from moving. The shoelaces are strong. I am not a fan of the amount of white that are in the black colored cleats. The metal spikes are intact. My concern is they will give out before the end of a season. She purchases a new pair each year but she plays hard year round. Worth the price and much better than Nike or Boombah.
I bought these for my daughter. She plays travel softball and puts these shoes to their limits. They seem to be holding up very well, especially with as much abuse that she puts them through. They seem to fit her well, with playing tournaments every weekend, she is literally in them all day long, and have yet to hear her complain about the fit. The price point made it an even better deal.
Bought these for my daughter now that she's on JV. She absolutely loves them , as do I. They look and feel fantastic. We are extremely happy with our purchase. And the color choices are awesome. We got the royal blue and white. Matches her uniforms perfectly. And of course Super fast prime shipping.
My daughter pitches and they don't last but a couple of tournaments and she wears a hole in them but we have had about 5 pair because she says they are comfortable and her feet don't hurt...she is extremely flat footed so we keep buying them. If she didn't pitch, they would last her forever...her left shoe holds up nicely.
Great cleats. Hold up well and daughter loves the fit. The tongue is attached to the shoe body so it does not slide down. By far my daughter's favorite metal cleats.
