Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
So I waited about a week to write this, I wanted to wear them all day a few times before I made up my mind. I really do like these boots, I usually wear Timberlands, but wanted to try something with a more chunky look. I would say the platform definitely achieves this look. They are heavier than my other boots, but I don't mind, I think of it as a mini workout throughout the day. I also really like that they are non slip so I can wear them to work. There are two things that you should be aware of when buying. 1. they are vegan leather, I generally like the real stuff. 2. you will have to work them around the opening. I wore them the first time with tights and it made the area above my ankle tender and swollen. I have been wearing them with a thick winter sock and I haven't had the same issue since.Lastly, sizing. I took the advice of sizing down. I am usually a 6.5/ 7 depending, and I bought a 6 US. I have more than enough room even with a thick sock on. I probably could have even purchased a 5 US but I like boots to fit slightly loose. To give some reference in Birkenstocks I wear a 5.5, and in Timberlands 6.5, Brooks 6.5/ 7. I also have barrow feet.Anyway, if you are looking for a chunky, high quality boot this is it.
best shoes ive ever purchased. I wear them with everything
This is a great brand - Dr. Martens. They fit my daughter perfectly and delivery was great. Wish the prices were a bit competitive. It cost the same as the shoe stores but I’m a loyal Amazon customer. Easier returns and all that.
This were insanely heavy on the foot for starters. Second, I understand that the leather is supposed to stretch out with wear, but these were impossible to even get on and off. The quality is there, but I don’t see how you could ever be comfortable in these.
Not like my other Doc Chelsea Boot. These look great but did not break in and were more difficult to get on and off than boots with laces. Unfortunately that is what I bought them for.
Extra comfortable
UPDATE: I did receive the 6 and they were still a little small… I am bummed but would still encourage the purchase of these boots because it may have just been a misfit on my end - still a wonderful quality!!!I’ve heard about Doc’s being THE best boot from a fit, style, and quality viewpoint… and now I can understand why — these are fantastic! I am typically a 7/7.5 in all shoes, unfortunately there was a little too much space in the toe in the size 7 for me. I am ordering a 6 instead and will update if they are the right size or small. I am really hoping for the right fit as I can already tell these will be a fall staple in my closet!!
