ECCO Women's Exostrike Chelsea Gore-TEX Ankle Boot, Black, 5-5.5

I wore an Ecco pair of shoes years ago and “liked” them. However, these new shoes are wonderful. I bought them especially for a Viking cruise in November. I need a shoe that was easy to put on, looked smart and had a great sole that had good non slip tread. This shoe fits that criteria and also very comfortable! Oh, and they are waterproof!

These fit right out of the box, no breaking in at all. Comfort from day one. To those who are having a hard time getting the boot on , use the tabs, both at the same time to slip foot in. It’s a learning curve but once you get it, you get it. Then your foot is hugged and waterproofed. Love these boots. Quality and craftsmanship is superb!

I have several pair of Ecco shoes, so I was confident in purchasing this pair. I ignored the reviews saying they ran small. After all, I always wear a 39 in Eccos (8.5 in US sizing). So I was surprised when I received today and they, in fact, run small! Yes, they are tricky getting on at first, but that didn’t bother me. So that wasn’t the issue in the “smallness.” I got my foot in with some effort, but it was way too short and slightly too narrow for my average-to-slightly-narrow foot. They are very lightweight and feel like they would be super comfy in the correct size, as most Eccos are. I am on the fence whether to reorder in size 40. I have a fear of being cut off by Amazon on all my shoe returns! The big downside of living in small town America nowhere near a big city. I am having such a difficult time this year finding a waterproof somewhat stylish bootie! So my three stars are not because of quality but purely because of the inconsistency in sizing.

This shoe is not cheap, but it's worth every penny. It's comfortable, very stable, yet stylish - and waterproof. I took out the insoles and replaced with my own orthotics, which I need because of my flat arches. So the shoe would benefit from better arch support, but otherwise it's one of the best shoes I ever bought. The Gore-tex lining will keep your feet warm in very cold weather without requiring extra heavy socks; it also gives the shoe breathability and so you won't sweat it out while indoors. It goes on and off the foot easily. All in all, it's a good buy and given Ecco's great quality, you will have these boots for many winters to come.

Following the advice of other reviewers, I sized up. I normally wear a 9 or 40, purchased a 10/41. The shoes were about a half size too big but a 40 would have been too small. I was very happy with how comfortable these were - wore them all day yesterday walking around town. It was the first time I wore the boots for any length of time since purchase.Sadly, I noticed today the sole is coming apart but it is too late to return. I was very disappointed because I really loved how comfortable these boots felt. I also expected better quality for the brand and cost.

I walked through the airport, walked all over rural Ireland streets and byways in this shoe. I've been plagued by plantar fasciitis since spring and thanks to orthotics, it's nearly healed, but wearing these on a trip where i'd be walking a lot was the real test. I bought these for 3 reasons: They had to have removable insoles, had Gore Tex leather and they had to be stylish as well as comfortable. This boot checked off all those boxes, plus was lightweight as well. So easy to remove at the airport, a plus! ECCO fan forever!

These boots are well made and very comfortable. They are not as attractive as I had hoped (a little older lady-ish), but they are as they were described, and they work well for being on your feet a long time. Quality product.
