These are awesome boots. I’ve been asked by every mom and teacher at daycare where I got them. They are fleece lined, so very warm. I ordered size 4 for my toddler and they fit her true to size. She is just toddling too, and these were easy for her to walk in (yay for striderite).Spoiler alert: these show twilight with wings, and we hadn’t gotten that far in the series yet, so my 3 year old was confused. Luckily we hit that episode fairly quickly.
This is our second time purchasing these rain shoes... they are the absolute best! They’re like a rain boot sneaker combo, which means my 4 year old can play in the rain and enjoy normal motion in her shoes. Most boots are stiff and (before stumbling upon the first pair) she would constantly trip on them. These are rain boots with the support/perks of sneakers... no falling, nor discomfort. Additionally, they’re pretty versatile. We live in Seattle, so it’s nice that we can simply roll them down and transition from rain boot height to ankle height with ease.
Ordered size 5 for my 19 month old. Earlier reviews said that these run small, I disagree. My son is currently wearing a 5 in another Stride Rite model. These still have about 3/4 of a cm from his toe to the end of the shoe. They are light, flexible (perfect for running and playing), and warm. He has worn them walking in wet grass, and his feet remained dry. We have not added any waterproofer. The price for this size and color was a SUPER deal when I purchased, so I feel they are completely worth it. I would not have paid the $60 full price simply because I don't feel a boot for a toddler should ever cost that much. They are pretty easy to slip on when you fold back the top. I like the two velcro adjustments. The cinching at the top allows some of his pants to be worn over the boot, so it looks just like a regular shoe. One (potential) downside is that the treads do not appear to be aggressive enough for confident walking in icy conditions; however, we haven't been able to test that theory out yet.
As a native Texan, I don't have much experience with winter gear. I worked last winter in Elko, NV and snow is a very alien world to me. I was hoping that for my 17 month old this would be a casual shoe that provided warmth and flexibility for a novice walker. They worked out perfectly. He played lightly in the snow and they kept his toes dry and warm. The shoe was not too difficult to put on. As long as the straps are all loose and the shoe is rolled down it was easy to slip on. My toddler loved wearing them as well. To him it meant play time. Even when he caught RSV last year, he was still wanted to wear them to go outside despite him being sick. It also made a great shoe to run errands in. I am looking forward to repurchasing these shoes for this winter. Snow is sparse in my new living situation but a warm shoe is still much needed. I did order half a size larger than normal as most of the reviews suggested and I will do the same for my next order. This is the second Stride Rite shoe I have purchased and I was not let down with my choice. I hope to discover new shoes as it fits to the needs of my now 28 month old.
Great toddler snow boot. They are a gorgeous blue and they kept his feet warm and dry. They are a little challenging to get on, but they stayed on his foot as a result. Just make sure to really loosen all straps as others have noted. Also, rolling down the top allowed us to pull them in better.
It is a very nice snow boot. and everything works and fits well. But the top of the boot is the issue. I would think that most kids, like my son have legs that are just about the size of table leg, well maybe not that small but I am sure you can guess what I mean. The top closer does not close enough to keep the snow out. I think they should either change it to the elastic cord with the slide or they need to put more Velcro on the current strap. When you go to close it around their leg, even when the pants are doubled up, the Velcro is not tight enough to keep snow out. When he used it for the first time it was very deep snow and after only a few minutes outside with the closure working the way it does. My son's feet came out to the boot and he was walking in just his socks. I think if the top would have been able to be even a little tighter that it would not have just slipped off his feet. I had to get and use those mini bungee cords on the top to keep is closed and that seemed to work. But it did take a few days to get them and by then the snow had gone quite a bit so the test wasn't the same. But the rest of the boot is nice it is a good fit and he loves to wear them. he just can't stay outside in deep snow for as long as he likes.
I love these boots. My kid's feet finally grew out of her my little pony pair after 3 winters and so i can say they're pretty durable and i like that they're warm without being clunky. The straps help them stay on well. Machine washable is also the best for when our snow turns to slush. Which happens a lot in CO
My little one has tiny feet for her age and I've had a terrible time finding winter boots to fit her. I ordered half a size bigger than she wears and sneakers and they will be perfect for winter! The Stride Rite boots are wonderful they fit just like her sneakers and are easy on easy off.
