The new FUSION has been completely overhauled. The rand has more downturn and a slightly wider forefoot. A further new feature is the innovative fastening system, which combines the benefits of VCR and laces to enable rapid and customized adjustment to the feet. The laces are made of extremely strong and abrasion-resistant Technora aramid fibers left over in Red Chili's production department and normally used for paragliders. The tongue made of 3 mm thick neoprene improves the comfort and distributes the closure forces more evenly. Thanks to these features, the FUSION offers enhanced performance and a more individual fit while still remaining a versatile all-rounder. This is further highlighted by the full-surface RX-1 ALLROUND sole, which impresses with particularly well-balanced properties with regard to friction, sensitivity, durability, and edge stability.

I like the fit of these! The only thing is that I do feel I have to wear a sock that comes over my ankle with them because of how it sits slightly higher at the back of my foot, and I prefer to not wear socks, but that’s fine. I have worn them both in the gym and climbing outdoors. My Nike tennis shoe size is a 7.5 and I ordered both a 7.5 and a 7 based off reviews. My old climbing shoes were a 6.5, so I was skeptical ordering closer to my actual size. I went with the size 7 which is a half size down from my normal. My toe is right at the end where I want it, but not so cramped that it’s curling. I had no discomfort in these at all. And didn’t feel the need to take them off in-between climbs. The toe of the shoe is better than my la sportiva tarantula shoes (which I love, but had worn out). I feel like it has a little more to work with. It’s not an aggressive shoe, but it’s not the most flat shoe you could buy. I have no complaints so far. I was grateful I ordered two sizes to compare the fit, and Amazon returns are so easy that didn’t bother me. But if I hadn’t read the reviews I would have ordered smaller originally. Good shoes for what I paid!
