I ride in SIDI Dragon 3 shoes and bought these to replace them. They are far nicer as they have a full carbon fiber soul. They have improved the looks and function of the closures as well. It took a few months to get them here but they are well worth the wait.
Sidi quality with carbon for better power. Closure system will probably get broken at some point but you know parts are available because they are Sidis!
Good shoes. Understanding the lace system took a minute. Love Sidi shoes. Went on a ride and it felt fine.
I was pleased to find that the Size 47 Sidi Mega sizing worked well for my 12EE size feet. I paid a premium price for 4mm wider dimension across the ball of the foot plus more volume, high instep and wider heel cup.To tighten the shoe use the red double techno 3 push button to release the dial adjuster then turn the dial to the desired comfort level and push the lever down. To loosen push the two outer buttons simultaneously and lift the tongue. These are replaceable as needed as many parts of the Sidi Mega series are. Warning, do not push the button and turn the dial counterclockwise at the same time. It will damage the mechanism. My test ride described below details an issue with the Instep Strap.I was disappointed to find that there is no adjustable heel retention device on this Dragon model which is available on other Sidi shoes.Sidi provides instructions for installing some common cleats but disavows any responsible for newer cleats or changes in technology. They also refuse to take responsibility for any improper installation. The Dragon has a full length carbon sole with two hole SPD drilling with a thin insole. There is a replaceable MTB toe guard. Nice touch. The manual states that the Dragon can not prevent injury and may increase or even cause injury so buyer beware. Failure to unclip completely can cause a fall. Don't ask me how I know.My initial test ride revealed a loud snapping noise in sequence with the pedal revolutions. I found the instep strap stuck out far enough from the shoe to contact the crank arm. I determined via Google search that Sidi recommends cutting the strap. This was verified by checking the manual. With trepidation I cut the strap. Problem solved. This is a relatively average weight shoe with common features that satisfies the needs of people with wide feet. I've become increasingly annoyed with the dial adjusters. They seem to pop open with little or no effort by the user.
