A classic T-bar fastening meets a rugged AirWair sole: the 8065 shoe turned the tradition of impractical women’s footwear on its head in the 80s Punk-chic meets a classic feminine style in the Sabina from Dr. Martens. This T-strap mary jane sports a perforated design on the toe, dual adjustable straps, and a chunky heel. Dr. Martens' legendary bouncy rubber sole adds the perfect finishing touch, giving this everyday shoe its edge. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two founders decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history. See more

Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
Dr. Martens Women's 8065 Mary Jane Black Patent Leather. A beautiful shoe intelligently designed with high quality materials. Built to last under multiple wear conditions. The shoe itself does run slightly big, but not by much and over time the shoe will orthopedically mold itself to your feet to compensate for this extra room. This is the whole purpose of the Dr. Martens brand. I am a petite 7.5 with a narrow foot bridge. I have ordered the size 6 and the size 7. The 7 is what I opted for as the 6 is smaller than the 7 is bigger. The initial shoe that you remove from the package will appear to be very stiff, heavy and roomy with Initial discomfort to certain pressure points on the foot. Ignore this temporary infraction and put double socks on, walk around and move that shoe. Fill the shoe with a tennis ball and work that shoe for a good day. That initial discomfort will disappear by the 2nd or 3rd day of wearing it. The whole purpose of the Dr. Marten brand is that the shoe is designed to orthopedically mold itself to your foot and walking patterns, creating a stable and active shoe that is reading your movements so that it is lending itself to your pressure points into your feet. This is why there is initial pain, those are the areas that are speaking to the shoe. Before you know it, this shoe becomes the most comfortable, grounding, strong shoe you will own. They become more medically attentive to your body over time. Improving spinal body mechanics and preventing injury to the body. Not to mention that they are the most sexy, stylish, tough shoes out there. I love you Dr. Marten.
I am a guy. These shoes popped up in an ad and caught my attention. Although sold as women’s, I read a review by a woman who bought a pair for her husband and he loved them. I’ve been bored to tears with the cheap, cookie cutter style casual shoes sold to men in the U.S. So, I thought, what the heck? The largest available size (Women's 11 U.S.) was one smaller than what I needed, but a number of reviewers said that the shoe ran slightly large. So, I decided to roll the dice and give them a try. They came as ordered, and much to my surprise, they fit…just barely on my half-size larger foot, but still acceptably comfortable. The extra room was the saving grace and they’re also made from real leather, which will stretch after wearing. I must say, the quality is impressive and the reddish-brown color is beautiful. The toe box is very roomy and there is a slight to moderate amount of arch support. I did not experience the problems noted in some reviews. They are not heavy or clunky at all and they are flexible. The straps are a little stiff but not impossible to adjust. The thing that amazed me the most is how they locked onto my heels and did not slip, even when going up the steps. Overall, it is a well-made shoe with very nice styling, which I believe is acceptable for unisex wear. By the way, anyone scoffing at a man wearing “women’s shoes” should realize that many clothing items worn exclusively by women today were first worn by men.
These shoes are beautiful and comfortable. I love them so much. They fit true to size.
My first docs therefore I am not sure, however I have been wearing it for few months and it still hurts one of my feet :( Other then that theyre super cute though!
I LOVE THESE!!!!!I have had this same style of Dr Martens in flat black & brown since 2001. I was super exited to find them in patent leather. I received them today in the mail & I LOVE THEM!!!For someone who has never worn Dr Martens:You have to be break in Dr Martens. Do not expect to put these shoes on and feel like you are walking on clouds - It Will Not Happen. All of my leather Dr Martens (boots, Mary Janes and oxfords) are stiff.I break in my new Dr Martens by wearing them 2 hours per day for 1 week. I then increase wearing them 1 extra hour each week. It takes me 2 months to break in a new pair of leather Dr Martens. By the 8th week I’m able to wear them for a full 8 hour work day.I’m a cosmetologist & a bartender which requires me to be in my feet constantly. I wear Dr Martens for because I have flat feet that cause terrible back & hip pain. My podiatrist recommended me to wear shoes that do not bend and he prescribed insoles.I remembered Dr Martens were rock hard & did do not bend. I’ve been wearing this style of Dr Martens & Dr Martens Mariel Mary Janes for 1 year now (with the prescribed insoles) & these shoes have made a HUGE improvement in my back & hip pain.I’m super excited about this style in paten leather! Search for Dr Martens Women’s Mariel Black Mary Janes in patent leather - They are just as awesome as these.
I liked they just run small. I’m an 8 1/2 so buy a 9.
I live these shoes! I had a pair way back in highschool and they were some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned! I decided to get a pair for work because I spend hours standing. I generally wear a woman's US 8, but when I got those in, they were too large so I returned them for a 7. They fit perfect and I'm very pleased! I recommend ordering a size down. All the shoes I've bought from the UK, it seems I have to order a size down.
They're real & higher quality than a lot of shoes. They look like the German school girl shoes I wanted them too:) Really cute. However keep in mind that they will relatively hurt your feet because they need to be broken in & that the buckles are real so they are a pain to take on & off for a bit. The leather is shiny & hard but it's worth it.
