The Blaire is a versatile sandal packed with comfort and fashion. The Blaire is chalk full of Doc Marten DNA while being built on our new lightweight Ziggy sole. Adjustable straps ensure a personalized fit and a molded sock in each sandal means the fit is comfortable enough for all day wear. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history. Clean by wiping with a damp cloth

Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
I love these sandals. They are beautiful and great quality. I would size down a half size next time as they were a tiny bit big, but they are still comfortable.
Love doc martens. Sizing was a little difficult. My daughter wears a 9 so I bought her a 9 had to sent it back and got her8 now it fits perfectly. I would have to say these shoes run big. So go down a size. Very comfortable and durable she will be able to wear these for a long time
Cute and true to size
I listened to the reviews that said to size down and that is not good advice! A size down causes your heel to hang off and toes to be too squished at the top. These are an adorable shoe and fairly lightweight in comparison to a lot of Dr Martens. The straps at the top don’t fit tight against your foot and are not adjustable. I wish they were a bit tighter. The ankle straps are adjustable. I reordered my true shoe size and they fit fine. Although, I am already getting blisters on my ankles after just an hour of walking around my house. I am hoping once the shoes are broken in that they will no longer cause discomfort. The shoes feel nice on the soles only my feet so far minus the digging on the ankles. They are quite a loose shoe. So far these shoes seem to be more of a fashion statement than a shoe you would feel comfortable walking hours in. Once they are broken in I will update this review for others to read.
I bought these for my granddaughters birthday and she loves them! They do run a bit big so she had to return the first pair, but she sized down and the second pair fit perfectly. They are well made and so pretty.
Theses are very nice! Sturdy material! So comfortable
These have been my dream sandals for years and I finally went to bite the bullet on prime day for the discount. I'm normally a size 8 in shoes, 7 in docs, but a 6 in these sandals and the beds finally fit after having to return and then buy them again at full price. The main issue I have with these is that for the price of an entire days work of pay I expected more. The middle strap of the left shoe is smaller than any other so it makes me have to strap each shoe in at different holes and each feels different on my feet- making walking even more uncomfortable than it normally is with new docs. I hope to use some tools and heat to help stretch it eventually, but I feel like I shouldn't have to do that for consistency.
I own a couple pairs of Doc Marten boots and based my sandal purchase off what all the other comments said - size down even if you own a pair of docs…..I sized down and got a size 5 and it was too small. Straps we’re tight and about an inch a half of my heel hung off the back. I ordered size 6 which is my boot size and am hoping it’s a perfect fit. Size 6 is definitely a size down from my regular shoe size, but if you base your ordering size off you doc marten shoes - get the same size!
