Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
I love these shoes!! They do have some issues, but nothing you can’t easily fix. I always have to size down in docs, so keep that in mind. Also, the stitching on the sandals will hurt your bare feet. I used some black tape to cover the seams and where it was digging into my skin. Other than that, these shoes are so comfy afterward. I always get compliments.
Amazing quality, sizing is a bit weird. I am always an 11.5 in women’s shoes with a super wide foot (how dainty of me). Sandals, sneakers, otherwise. I heard mixed opinions from other sites and reviews for this show, so I went with my gut and sized DOWN to the 11. They fit perfectly for my wideness, but they are also the longest shoe ever. My foot feels like it’s swimming in it sometimes, but I know if I went down to a 10 they would be too narrow for my foot.So be aware if you are a big or wide footed lady, they might fit weird depending on what you choose to do. Winter time I plan to wear these with thick socks or stockings and that will help with the oversizing.
Prefacing this with, I had to buy these shoes twice to get it right. Typically, I wear a size 10 in Women's shoes (on rare occasions a 9.5 or a 9 depending on the brand) INCLUDING my Doc Marten boots, which are a women's 10. For context, I am 5'8'', typically a size L/XL in clothes, slightly wider feet. I read the reviews here and did research on the doc marten's website, literally measured my feet, and determined that sizing down to a 9 would be sufficient. I was wrong, they were awkwardly long in the toe area and I worried about sliding around and being uncomfortable. So I returned the 9's, and ordered the 8. While the 8 fits, and I definitely have worn them out and about, they are *just barely* the right size. My feet are almost too long for the 8's. The shoes are super cute, and comfortable with not a lot of need for breaking in (though I did wear them around the house with fuzzy socks on for a day), and I plan to wear them, but the amount of struggle involved with getting shoes that "only just" fit bordering on "too small" was very frustrating. When in doubt, try to find these at a brick and mortar store and try them on if you can.
Very upset with this style of doc Martin's, been looking for a good looking pair for along time. But the pictures do them more justice then they deserve. I've been only wearing doc's for over 15years, and this style isn't the typical docs they don't have a hard sole as normally. The are so soft and grab on everything. That your falling or tripping with every step you take. then I'm use to the rounded toe and these just make you feet look pointy. Then to top it off, I was so sad to find out I was a day late when I went to return them. Now I'm stuck with them:-( when really I would have been happy with just getting a different type of doc's that I would enjoy as much as all the rest of my doc's I have had for years. But I also realize that all my fault, " I'm an adult, so I need to be more responsible"
I ADORE these shoes and they were exactly as I’d hoped, until the strap broke like some other reviews. I got a solid month of wearing these new favorites only to have them break and that is an expensive bummer too! No option for refund as far as I can tell. I would love another pair but I’m worried I will be out another $110. They do run a little big but it worked out so that they weren’t grinding into my skin.
I love these! I can't wait for summertime so I can wear them all the time!
Let me start by saying this is not my first pair of Docs but my 16th. I own 10 boots, 3 sandals and 2 Mary Janes all a perfect 6 US or 37 euro size. I was so excited awaiting to receive them. I had outfits already planned. When I finally tried them on, to see if they were comfortable enough to wear that day, when some of the bad reviews I read beforehand came to mind. The straps were too wide around my foot, that the only thing keeping my foot inside, were the very uncomfortable ankle straps. I literally took 3 steps before removing them and opting to return. I also recall the nasty blister pictures posted. Wanted to love but painfully could not. Loved the color and platform style which is why I gave it a two star.
I bought these for a trip to Italy and they did not disappoint! Walking up and down bumpy cobblestones for hours was a breeze. They were very quick and painless to break in. I’m 5’5 and they added the perfect height for me.SIZE DOWN! I’m a US 9, ended up getting a size 8 and they were still a little big.
