ECCO, a Danish footwear brand founded in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy, began with a simple yet revolutionary idea: creating comfortable shoes that mimicked the barefoot walking experience. Toosbuy believed that shoes shouldn't restrict the natural movement of the foot, and ECCO's commitment to ergonomic design has been at the heart of the brand ever since.
ECCO prioritizes both comfort and style. They utilize innovative technologies and premium materials to create shoes that are anatomically shaped, lightweight, and flexible. ECCO also boasts a keen eye for design, offering a range of styles that are both functional and fashion-forward.
I've only had these shoes a day but it's clear to me that these shoes are a cut above other shoes I've tried. As I've gotten older, my feet have become pickier. If the fit isn't right, they make my day hell. I had resorted to only playing in a pair of Under Armour cross trainers, which are amazing for golf btw, just to be able to walk without my feet screaming at me in a high, loud, whiney voice.I've tried several pairs of Foot-Joys and they were anything but a "joy" to wear. Sketchers, same, same.I used to be a golf professional and I tried to remember the most comfortable pair of shoes I ever wore. Nikes but Ecco has a reputation for being really comfortable. So off the cliff, I went.Admittedly, I took the lid off the budget perception I had and bought these after doing a lot of research. This shoe is at the top of most of the lists I reviewed. So here we are.I'm preparing for 5 days at Bandon Dunes and there are no carts on property and that's fine, I love to walk when I play but I needed good shoes that are waterproof.I got these yesterday and immediately put them on. On the advice of a good friend, I went a 1/2 size larger. The sizing here is 12-12.5, which may seem a little dicey not being a solid 12 or 12.5 but they were perfect. Depending on the shoe, I wear an 11 to a 12 so I took a chance these would be right and they are. I wanted to know if I was going to return them so I immediately put them on and walked around the house. They were initially a little tight, width-wise, but loosened up in short order to be really comfortable. The footbed is perfectly formed for my feet, oddly, and they feel like they walk you rather than the other way around. I kept them on for 4 or 5 hours and the more I wore them, the better they felt.Items of note: They have leather uppers and a sock-like insert that wraps your feet right up. I could feel the leather soften as I was wearing them and although they aren't mocassins, they sure felt like it. The insole is removable for extra width. I took it out just to see what that was like and it does provide a little extra width. Because I got them a little larger to take into account swelling when walking for an extended period, I won't need this, I think but we'll see. A nice feature to have anyway. The soles aren't too soft. The footbed, while conforming to my feet very nicely, isn't soft but is a bit firm. I'm a little concerned about this but they fit my feet so well that it may not be an issue. This shoe is very stable. I transfer my weight quickly back and aggressively through so for me, that's a good thing. Stability is key.I've taken up too much of your time already so to summarize, I got these, they fit great, are quality shoes and I'm keeping them. May even get a second pair. I'm going to walk in them for an extended time, hit some balls with them on, and see how it goes. If anything changes, I'll update my review. Fairways and greens!UPDATE: I took my new shoes to Bandon Dunes in Oregon for a week of golf. If you don't know, Bandon doesn't allow carts only walking. Over 5 days, I played 4 rounds on uneven terrain. My feet didn't hurt once. Not one time did I complain about my feet. This hasn't happened in a LONG time. I'm sold on these. The rest of my buddies can't say the same. For me, these shoes are worth every penny. Again, I've got seriously picky feet. My feet love these shoes.
This model is true to size and maybe even a little small. I wear an 11 with a high arch and got the 11/11.5 expecting it to be a little large like many people say Ecco shoes are. They are actually a bit snug. I took the insert out and they are slowly stretching to shape.Good quality materials, maybe just a little tall. I'd prefer to be a bit lower to the ground but that is a personal preference. The one thing that stands out is how hard the soles are. There is almost no give in that rubber, it is dense and tough.Edit: They quickly stretched out and fit like a glove. I wear them around as regular shoes sometimes and they still look brand new, will last a long time
I've got 5 pair of the latest options from G/FORE and Nike, and these ECCO are so much better for all those reason (at least for my feet - comfort support traction). Better support than Nike and only the footbeds of G/FORE keep up with the ECCO, but everywhere else G/FORE come up short compared to ECCO Biom C4 - and the shape and design of the ECCO make the Nike & G/FORE seem boxy and lacking support when swinging. I walk 80 rounds a year and the first 5 rounds in these are better than any shoe I've tried for past 10 years (and I had 5 pair of the Nike Freestyle Softspike that I wore for years, which they discontinued)
Exceptional comfort, support, style... typically with golf shoes you will have to sacrifice one of those 3. They are on the more expensive side of golf shoes, but these hold up incredibly well. I have played 45 rounds this year in all types of weather (Northeast) and have structurally held up well . I have had previous pairs of Eccos so I know i will be able to get a few more seasons from them too! Can't recommend enough
Unfortunately this rather expensive shoe is not built to last. After the 3rd round it looks like they are 2 years old. yellowing and torn sole. They are comfortable (probably because they have 2 inserts) but with ECCO and the European size, never fit perfect. Would not buy these again...and may never buy ECCOs again
Ok. First off. I play 3 to 5 rounds a week. I walk most of the time. I have tried most of the shoes out there. Nike, Adidas, FJ, and more recently True. I've been wearing the Trues, but the grip, support and general comfort for walking 18 holes just was lacking. So I began searching for a shoe that I could walk in that would give me all around performance. I think I wore out Amazon's "try before you buy" feature. I had read about the ecco shoe but the price kept me away. After trying the new PUMA, Adidas, Nike and FJ, I finally gave in and ordered this shoe. Out of the box I was a little skeptical. I wear a size 13 in every other shoe. After carefully measuring my foot and using the size guide I ordered the size 12. It fit perfectly. So be aware these run one size large. I wore them around the house for a few hours and they felt pretty good. But the real test was out on the course. Obviously, a tremendous amount of time, energy and design has gone into this shoe. Excellent support. Excellent traction. Excellent comfort. Walking 18 in these was a joy. It's taking me a minute to get used to the style, but the comfort and performance is unequaled. This is the best all around golf shoe on the market. If you're a serious stick and you're looking for a shoe that exceeds expectations...you can stop looking. Expensive for sure...but worth every penny.
Good fit (extra wide) and water proof. I play 18 holes of golf on foot very early in the morning everyday Monday through Friday. The shoes are comfortable with extra width, and perfectly water proof. This is my third pair of the same brand and model in the past two years.
This shoe is extremely comfortable but it is NOT water proof. After one round of golf on a regular morning, my toes were completely wet. Not acceptable for a "gore tex" shoe. I have been wearing ecco golf shoes for years and have never had an experience like this.
