Good fit, comfortable, love them
Bought these for my husband before a hunting trip, when he realized he had left his hunting boots at the last hunting trip....he needed something waterproof and wide boots. He love's these boots. Said they didn't require breaking in and were the most comfortable boots he ever owned.
I normally wear an 11 wide but they were tight around the ball of my feet so I replaced with an 11.5 wide for a better fit. I don't have particularly large feet but seems that I have this issue with other manufactures as well and need to order wide to avoid pinching. I bought these to replace a pair of Merrell Moeb II that were well worn and far beyond their ability to keep my feet dry. The two main attributes for me (aside from comfortable fit of course) are true waterproof and good traction on smooth/wet rocks as I live on property with rocky streams and wet trails. Although the Merrell were fully waterproof earlier in their life, I found that the traction on wet rocks was very poor and wanted to try another trusted brand. To test the waterproof ability of the shoes I stood in a shallow section of stream allowing water to rise into the section with laces (see picture). The waterproof liner doesn't come all the way to the top of shoes so I avoided spill-over above the tongue (see picture showing inside shoe and the height of the waterproof liner which covers all of the laces except for the very top set of holes). Although I could feel the cold through the fabric around the toe cap (it appears that the outer fabric does absorb some water), my feet did in fact remain bone dry. Walking through puddles for a week I experienced the same cold sensation but at this early stage the shoes remain 100% waterproof. The traction on smooth/wet rocks was improved noticeably, but of course they are smooth/wet stones so there will always be limits to a shoes grip. So far, I am very pleased with the performance; however, the true test of all waterproof shoes is how long they will continue to offer 100% protection... only time will tell.
This shoe waas instantly comfortable with no need to break them in. I highly recommend this Shoe
This is my second set of Columbia boots (the first were pure hiking and I love them!) Wanted something more sneaker-like that would be waterproof and slip resistant for casual wear - these shoes are perfect! The material seems hydrophobic - water rolls off them. They offer good arch support and are light and comfortable. Exactly met my expectations.
I owned the original Redmond model and hiked across Europe in them. I bought these and wore them casually about 6 times during the 2 months I owned them. Looked down and saw they were already split apart for no reason. It was past the return window, so I called Columbia. I saw all the other reviewers posting similar failures. It took over a month to create a warranty claim, pay to mail them both shoes so they can verify they were defective, and then finally to get credit to re-buy some shoes off their online store and then pay extra for tax. So, all in all, I bought DEFECTIVE shoes and had to PAY $30 approx out of pocket to replace them.I will NEVER buy another pair of Columbia shoes for that reason. I have dealt with many other reputable companies that honor their warranties and make ownership a pleasant experience, but it seems Columbia couldn't give a rat's ass. From now on, if I can't trust the shoe/manufacturer, I will only buy activity shoes at REI since they honor their customer satisfaction 100%. That means that Amazon is losing out too.I know I'm one tiny fish in the ocean, but seriously, almost every other manufacturer that has a warranty will ask you to cut off the labels and mail it back to verify purchase and photos to show defects. For example, Swiss Gear is fantastic. If there's a failure during warranty, they totally honor it and send you a replacement. Only Columbia makes you go find a box on your dime, pay $20 to mail it to them so they can say "yep, it was defective, here's credit to buy another pair" in which you will pay more taxes on and wait another two weeks to get shipped from Kentucky. What a POS company. The shoes were barely 60 days old and worn 6 times.I'm supposed to get my replacement pair tomorrow. I wonder if they'll last past 6 times.efF Columbia.
Good looking but the pair I got ran way. I'm normally an 11D which is what i ordered but I could barely get my foot squeezed in. And the toe box was torture to my toes.I wanted to exchange for a wider width at the same price but could not find a route to do so. Ended up returning
