Hikes well, fits perfect.
I walk a lot, usually between three and 18 miles a day. These shoes remind me of my grandma because they make me look like my feet are huge like hers (size 12 or 13) were. They make my big feet look out of proportion with the rest of my body. Also, I can't seem to walk in these without clomping. They are very stiff, but otherwise comfortable. These may end up being reserved for rainy days as my other shoes are not good for that. These are not shoes I would order again.
This is my first hiking sneakers I bought. I usually wear Vibram Fivefingers for hiking locally, (I swear by them) and when out in about I wear cuchiouny Offo, so I am pretty spoiled in comfort, but for my exotic trip to Perú I was advised to purchase something more versatile. I first inserted my orthopedic plantar f insoles and didn’t feel comfortable- it felt tight. When I removed it it felt better. I cut the laces and attached the tightening locks called “”. Not enough cushion to walk on boulders paved street in Cusco but passed the test for Machu Picchu.
I purchased these for a trip to Sedona. Even though I didn't have a chance to break them in, these shoes were super comfortable throughout the entire trip. They were perfect for hiking, and had great support! I was very impressed considering the price point!
I bought these shoes for a trip… tried them on the day that happened to be the day after they could be returnedI ordered them a half size larger as recommended and they are too big and it’s too late to return them… not happy
I am a swim coach and spend hours on deck with wet feet. I have tried several brands of water resistant shoes but never seen them by Eddie Bauer. These are very sturdy shoes and feel like they will last a good while -- they are a quality build. The colors are as displayed on my monitor. The design is such that my size giant feet seem to look smaller.I wear a size 11 and ordered a size 11. My toe hits the end of the shoe and the top hits my big toenail so I would say they run slightly small. The width is slightly narrow but good for me as I have slightly narrow feet. The shoelaces are slightly short but easily swapped out. These have a lot of padding in them and feel comfortable when worn for a long time with the exception of the heel. The inside rubs the back of my foot even without socks. These are water resistant, not water proof. They do let your feet get wet. I didn't walk in the pool with them, but I did get splashed and it let some water in as the practice went on. Not as much as normal tennis shoes, but not as little as other brands I have tried.I also found the arch is much too low for me. I have medium to high arches and the arch support in these is low to non-existent. Since the shoe is so snug it is hard to put a full insert to correct the arch, I am going to have to find an insert that only covers the arch.
These are comfortable, I put an arch support in them because I need the extra support. It helped a lot. I really enjoy Eddie Baur shoes, they are good quality.
The Eddie Bauer Canyon Low low Women's Hiking shoes are a big disappointment. They are made in China, they are poorly made, and lack the quality I had expected from Eddie Bauer.Let's take a closer look:Upon inspection, the left shoe has no obvious flaws and it is comfortable at first, but lacks proper arch support. The right shoe has issues, including a weird circular indentation on top which is located between the toe area just before the laces. When I tried on the right shoe, I found it wasn't comfortable due to an oversized tongue! Overall, the tongue is wider, longer, bulky and it is sewn crooked! Having too much material in the tongue creates an uncomfortable bump against the top of my foot, up from my big toe. Other than mutilating the tongue and cutting away some of the material myself, there's not much to be done about this problem.Simply put, the shoes are poorly made and lack the quality I expect from Eddie Bauer! Had I paid full price for these shoes, I would promptly return them for a full refund, not an exchange!Fit:I find that the shoes are a bit long, yet a bit narrow in the toe box.In summary:These Eddie Bauer hiking shoes lack the quality I had expected of the brand! I guess the Eddie bauer I remember from the late 70s and 80s is long gone! The shoes are made in China, which is another disappointing factor! In my experience, shoes made in China don't last long! Sadly, in this case, I won't be able to find out if I'm wrong since I cannot wear these shoes due to lack of overall comfort, especially with the right shoe.Bottom line:I generally state that I'll update my review if my opinion changes, or if the product doesn't last, or that I still like the product, etc. In this case, my opinion won't change and due to my experience, I wouldn't buy this product again nor can I recommend the shoes to others.
