These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever purchased. They fit & felt great right out of the box i.e. no break in required. I can't get over the room for your toes. The fit you're foot great , not allowing any sliding around which would cause blisters.
Great shoes for working in them all day and standing for long periods of time. Also, fit is great, they're wide enough to accomodate my wide feet.
Like all of the shoe manufacturers that forget that half the populations 2nd toe is longer than the big toe. This shoe is a tough fit for me. Also the inside of the shoe feels hard and unyielding. Other than that they are a very durable well built water resistant shoe.
I've had trouble with plantar fasciitis this last year, possibly caused by shoes that were too tight, with a toe box too narrow to give my feet room to move, and no support. Cheap shoes just no longer work for me. Keen have room in the toe area, and going up a size seems to have helped. Amazon has good prices on Keen shoes and sizes that fit my bigfoot feet. I've already ordered a couple more pairs in different color and styles to switch through the week.
They seem very durable, waterproof, and well made but are not as comfortable as the Targee shoes I have been wearing. These are cheaper so I guess that is why. They pinch and feel tight around the ankle.
Have had several pairs of Keens over the years. As a UPS driver I am rough on shoes. Keens have held up the best for me compares to others lasting on the average about a year and a half. Have worn these maybe 25 times now and the sole is coming off both shoes in the same place. Very disappointed and out of that money because past the return time.
I have been wearing KEENs Utility Men's Detroit Low ESD Soft Toe for years. That was a great shoe, fit me perfect and lasted. They stopped making them, so after trying a few different shoes, I settled on these. They are roomy but clunky, after wearing them for an extended period of time I noticed the bottoms of my feet hurt. They really don't have a lot of cushion, I tried a insert, but it made them to tight to wear. They are heavy and collect dust like a magnet and I'm constantly getting little rocks in the shoe. Its a good looking shoe, just not up to the quality that Keen used to produce. I do not think these shoes are good for trail hiking.
I bought these in preparation for hiking in national parks in CA and TX this fall. I used Amazon's try before you buy program. I am currently breaking them in for my big trips. They are fantastic. I especially like the wider toe box that lets your toes move a bit and breathe instead of being wedged into the toe of the shoe. Very comfortable; I use them with medium weight wool hiking socks. I initially ordered a half size larger than my normal size 10 (as I was told by a different source). I had to return them. Then I discovered them on Amazon for a lot less money. I like these so much that I bought Keen's for my daughter and granddaughter since they camp and hike a lot. Buy them from Amazon. I don't think you will be disappointed.
