What we love most about hiking fast is experiencing more things. More sunrises from the overlook, more high fives at the summit, more post-hike tea with friends back at the parking lot. And more terrain — asphalt to trail to scree to stone steps. So, we took the room-for-your-toes comfort, protection, and stability of our iconic women’s hiking shoe and gave it a women’s running shoe feel with a waterproof, engineered knit upper and all-terrain tread. The NXIS EVO waterproof hiking boots for women are built off KEEN's traditional wider footwear form. KEEN is a values-led, family-owned maker of original hybrid footwear for working and playing outside. Since 2003, KEEN has been consciously creating sandals, boots, shoes, and sneakers on its mission to make the outdoors more accessible for everyone. I have gone through 8 boots and trail shoes and finally found one that’s a dream. Tough but comfortable, waterproof and very light. I have the mid length too, love those also. I plan on buying a backup pair soon.
I read a lot of reviews on these before buying. Many complaints that they run narrow, are not "true to size." I am someone who struggles with finding a well-fitting pair of hiking shoes given that they always seem to be made for wider feet. I am petite all over and this is probably the best fitting pair of hiking shoes I've purchased to date. I really like the look of them, they look more like running shoes which is a plus because I bought them for disc golf. I have NOT yet tested the water resistance aspect. Hoping they hold up and if so I plan to get these in different colors as well.
Glad they were on sale 50% off... a customer shouldn't have do the following to make them comfortable and pain free... See below..I have bought Keen's for years. I buy them because of the wide toe box. The hiking boots usually rub on the back of my ankle. This is remedied by pounding with a rubber mallet to soften. This pair rubs on the outside of my right ankle, not the left. I have used the mallet... now I will put in a vise to soften and keep my fingers x'd .The foot support is awesome.. hope I can remedy and not return these.Shoe strings are a bit short ... barely able to do a double tie... They are slippery... not much grip.... They don't stay tied.. so double tie is necessary or else you will be stopping frequently to retire...
I’m always looking for shoes that are waterproof for our wet climate. These shoes provide good support, a wide toe box, and have excellent traction. I gave 4 stars, because they lack cushioning; contrary to be compared to a running shoe in the description. There were enough reasons to keep them, and I select other shoes to wear for extended walking/hiking. The dusty pink color is lovely and neutral enough to wear with many clothing items.
Very comfortable & look good
If you have high arches and need a hiker with a wide toe-box, this is a shoe for you. These are the most comfortable hikers I've ever worn. I have had trouble finding a shoe that doesn't make the top of my foot hurt after a long hike. I was a little worried because I have a narrow heel and they felt a little wide in the heel. They have a system for adjusting the tension on your heel and although it still feels a little loose, I've not had any trouble with rubbing or moving on my heel. The strings are a little slippery and I have sometimes had to re-tie them after I get started as they tend to loosen a little bit. They have great stability and support and wash off easily if you end up in mud. Keen makes a quality shoe and I whole-heartedly recommend these.
I really was looking forward to receiving these hiking shoes and I ordered my usual shoe size 8 1/2. I have two other pairs of Keen - one a shoe and the other sandals - both in 8 1/2 and they fit perfectly. Upon receiving these shoes, it was like trying to squeeze my foot into a size 8 - too short! I decided to return and order a size 9. I had no problem getting them on, toes right at the end of the shoe and had on a thin pair of socks but after walking around the house about 15 minutes, my toes felt cramped and there was no way I could hike up & down hills in these. So very disappointed.
These are great hiking shoes. The toe box is nice and big and the arch support is great. I do have the same issue as another reviewer in the they rub only my right ankle bone sometimes. I remember my other keens doing this and they stopped once I broke them in. These will only get more comfortable as I wear them. Keens 4 life.
