Keen boots are absolutely the best! I had ankle surgery about 10 years ago and it's difficult to find boots that don't bother my incisions/scars. I can always rely on Keen to find something that works! These boots come in a cute "feminine" color without being too "flashy". I wear them to mow the lawn and go to local fairs. They grip well on my back hill and I don't slip now. Material holds up well and it's easy to clean the "grass stains" off with a wipe. Seem "waterproof" enough for my purposes.
Thought they were too tight on left foot but as I wore them they have become really comfortable. They could use longer shoe laces. Just barely enough to tie. Just got longer laces and they work fine.
I've worn this brand for a number of years. They have changes the design of the hiking shoe, The toe box is a bit narrower than before. The arch insert is uncomfortable for me. Due to the narrower toe box, I did have to size up a half a size and with a change of the inserts the shoe is very comfortable. I have flatter and narrow feet and this SPECIFIC style from Keene runs narrower in general. It's the only hiking shoe I can wear from Keene since all others are far too wide for my narrow foot. Even though I have a narrow foot I really like shoes, sneakers, boots with a wider toe box otherwise I find my toes jam or rub in the shoe. Especially hiking down inclines! My toes are very long and my second toe extends more than my big toe and when you combine that with a narrow foot...I always have issues with hiking shoe fit!! I have always liked the breathability of this hiking shoe although it is waterproof so expect some sweating of your foot. My major negative is the hiking shoe fabric on the outside deteriorates quickly and forms holes that grow and compromise the waterproofing. It's a big problem and bummer! hiking shoes are expensive. When I say quickly ...I mean months with not a ton of use. It's definitely a negative and my only hope is that they have improved the material because I know I am not the only person with this complaint. I have tried other brands of hiking shoes and unfortunately I don't love the fit. Out of the box, no break in period and comfort are essential for hiking and that is why I come back to this style/brand. 4 stars because I did need to replace the inserts and I had to size up due to the toe box being narrower. As far as durability...we will see if the fabric holds up.
Keens have personally always been a little tighter than most other shoe brands. Usually I go up half a size and they’re great. I could not make these comfortable no matter what size, insole insert, or lacing method I used. The toe and forefoot area narrow in at an awkward position. I’ve been wearing them out for errands to try to work them in but my toes actually go numb after about 30 minutes. This is an anomaly for me and keen brand which is why the rating is a 3. They seem oddly put together for the brand.
shoes fits good
Waterproof!!! Hiked with these in snowy icy weather and they kept my feet dry!
I bought these Keen hiking shoes in black through Amazon warehouse and had to return the first pair because they had a defect in the heel on the right shoe. The second pair did not have the defect, and they fit very nicely. They are snug on the foot and well curved around the heel. They need some arch support, in my opinion. Otherwise, they are very good hiking shoes. The black is a great travel option because it stands in for a black sneaker as well as serving as a hiking shoe. I love to explore new places and I'm always looking for ways to lighten my travel road. These are a definite win on that front. My previous hiking shoes had an unusual cord system that is a little tricky to use. They are Salomon and are trail running shoes. I prefer good old laces. These Keen laces have enough room for a double knot. The laces are a little spongy, which means they hold a bow much better than firm or leather laces.
Price. I got one hell of a deal. Half price from the store I was shopping in when I ordered them.
