This is the second pair of this shoe that I have purchased. This pair feels even more comfortable than the first pair. I use these as my all-the-time casual shoe during the cooler months (I tend to wear good tennis type running shoes during shorts weather). They have a reasonable sturdy sole which makes them good for either casual use or for walking on easy trails. The design does not include ankle support, so I do not use these for rough trails. I like the color, and the fit for me is great. I have a narrow foot, so this shoe fits me better than many, certainly better than a Rockport, for instance. I had a Red Wing shoe that I had hopes for, but it was too stiff and was never comfortable to wear. These Merrill shoes were very comfortable right out of the box.
I got the shoes and wore them for a long time over a 4 day casual trip. They are comfortable, well made, true to the size, very good grip. It took a day's adjustment to the sole as it is thicker compared to the walking shoes I wear. So far pretty good. Also wore them twice on a red eye flight. No issues. Will use them as hiking shoes soon. Got them as they serve a good dual use as hiking shoes and business casual shoes.
I bought this exact shoe, and model Merrill about 6 years ago. They were excellent quality, and wear well, very comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone. Careful, though, re size. My original shoes are 9.5us size, I can still read the label on the tongue. I first bought 9.5, way too big, exchanged for 9, and 9's are still too big, so exchanged again for 8.5.
A little uncomfortable at first, but give them a little time and they’ll be as comfortable as your sneakers. I love these shoes. True to size, too.
Easy to put on your feet. No break in period. My second pair in a different color. Vibram soles never wear out after hard work. Great work shoes and great for all occasions. Thank you Merrell!!!
Merrell was more expensive but the shoes were high quality and lasted for several years. Tried to replace an old pair with my first online order for shoes. Had a quality inspection sticker on the box but it was definitely a defective product. Rubber sole edges had numerous bumps due to inferior manufacturing and the photo shows the inferior glue on the tips of the shoes. This was my first online purchase for a decent pair of shoes and it will be my last, Very disappointed with my favorite shoe brand.
I'm using this pair of shoes for a winter trip to Japan, including a trip to Hokkaido where I expect snow and ice. The particular soles of these shoes have an outstanding record of traction on snow and ice. I bought these lace-up as opposed to the slip on version, because review of the latter suggested that they were tight for anyone with high arches and a high rise in the top of his food, making them difficult to get on. There were also some warnings in all the reviews (for both the lace-ups and slip-ons) about the shoe being a bit narrower that most customers would expect. I got a size larger than my own, and they fit perfectly. That is, there's just a tiny bit more room in the toe than I need, but they fit well otherwise. When first trying them on, they still felt a wee-bit tight initially; but after walking around in them for ten minutes, that impression gave way to the pleasure of complete comfort. The fabric out of which the top of the shoes is made lets them breathe easily. This means they aren't shoes that take a shine, like leather; but they are handsomely constructed and not only give the impression of high quality, but really are quality shoes. I'm delighted.
Fits like a glove. Very comfortable.
