I love these shoes. They feel like sturdy sneakers, but have killer traction and they're waterproof. Every other hiking shoe I tried felt too much like a boot, these feel like my running shoes but with a stiffer and more supportive sole. I use them hiking in the forest, in the mud and in the rain and snow, basically any conditions that would trash a normal running shoe. They are a goldilocks shoe for me. I found they run a size small, I normally wear 13 EEEE , but since they don't come in wide sizes a 14 D fits my foot well. I will order another pair if these ever wear out. Perfect.
I wore these shoes hiking 48 miles of the Appalachian Trail. These shoes were perfect for the long 4 day hike. Even though we didnt have much rain, the morning dew gets everything wet and as you hike on the AT many places have a lot of plants, ferns, brush that constantly drops water on your shoes. Wet shoes and wet socks do not go well for long hikes causing blisters. You definitely want your shoes to be waterproof. These are excellent for keeping your feet dry. Even going through small streams and around waterfalls, these shoes wicked away water excellently while still allowing my feet to breath. They also look really cool and have become my daily wears. They hold grip on wet rocks really well. The v-shape treads give a good attach for grip on trail running. Highly recommend!
I go through 1-2 pairs of Merrells a year with work. I put in 8-12 miles a day working. The issue with these is they took a long time to break in. About 2 weeks of daily wear and a lot of pain points. Never had that issue with past pairs. Now I have worn them for 1-2 months straight and they are showing signs of wear. The webbing by the sole is starting to come out and show wear. Should not be showing this much wear so early. I have worn dozens of merrell shoes and not had this issue so maybe its just a bad batch.
It’s hard to find my boyfriend’s shoe size in the store. Amazon had his size and he loves them.
