I really wish these wore as well as they look. The design and look are terrific until you get to the inside of the shoe. There is truly no arch support, and I don't have high arches. The fit is extremely narrow, and I don't have wide feet. After three hours of wear, I was uncomfortable. Hour five had me lifting a sore foot like a sleeping hawk and by hour six I was in pain. These are just downright uncomfortable for any wear lasting more than two hours. It absolutely pains me to write this as I strongly believe in the brand and how these are manufactured. I wrote three reviews that barely mentioned the product and focused on the obscene amount of non-recyclable packaging they used. Yeah, I am that guy who wants to save the planet, so you get how much I want to support this company.I wish I could go higher than three stars, but these are just not comfortable no matter how much I loosen the laces. Taking them to the point that you can't even tie them provides some relief from the narrowness of the shoe, but this does not alleviate the flat foot no arch design. I was a boarder back in the 80's, but I don't remember our shoes being that uncomfortable riding the bowls and the half-pipe.
Upfront disclosure: I received this item through the Amazon Vine program for review. When I was younger (I am 42 now), I wore canvas shoes everywhere. They were affordable, lasted well enough, and once they were broken in they were super comfortable. As I got older, and my budget got a bit more generous, I started buying more supportive shoes, but I always missed the aesthetic of canvas shoes. When I saw these I thought I should give them a try.Now my feet are a size 12 AA width with a high collapsing arch. Finding a pair of shoes that fit my feet is often tricky but these are wonderful. They fit my narrow feet like a dream and don't pinch in the toe box, unlike many narrow shoes. They are very comfortable right out of the box and I am sure after a few months they are going to be even better. Now I did see some reviewers complain that these are not supportive enough or comfortable enough, but honestly you can always add inserts tailored to your specific support needs and canvas shoes have never been the most cushy option. The shoes have a rubber section that extends up about an inch around the sides and over the toes, which means they have more puddle protection than most. My wife said they look like they took notes from one of the outfitter companies, and they do have a bit of that look while maintaining a nice classic canvas shoe look overall. So if you have narrow feet and are looking for a good shoe that is reasonably priced these are a good choice. If you have gotten to a point where you need a lot more support, you are going to want inserts or perhaps just look elsewhere. I love these and would buy them again in a heartbeat.
Element Shoes are a huge hit in my household and please all age levels - from my surfing/skateboarding son to my husband. These Elements - Strack Sneaker - Canvas Medium Beige - tilt to the skateboard crew. They have sturdy thick soles and rubber-topped toes - they can take some kickflips. They are good looking - for activity or dressy casual wear. Element is a solid brand, the shoes have a consistent fit, the styles are always a hit. I’ve purchased them for over 15 years and have yet to be disappointed. My intense skateboarder even resorted to gobs of Shoe Goo in his youth just to keep them in his arsenal. These also get a thumbs up.The shoes come with both red and beige laces.
Right out of the box I liked the way the shoes look. However when I tried to put them on they felt incredibly narrow. The right shoe was a lot narrower than the left. I've owned canvas shoes before and they are always a bit stiff at the start, these were no exception. After a few days of wearing them, the canvas has softened and they don't feel quite as tight, but that is because the side of my foot is now able to hang over the edge of the sole a tiny bit on either side. It gives the illusion that they aren't as tight on my foot, but they still don't fit the way a shoe is supposed to fit. I can't believe how narrow these shoes are. I don't typically have issues or require a wide shoe, so im unsure who these shoes are supposed to fit. It'd have to be a very narrow foot. The fact that the right shoe is narrower than the left makes me question the manufacturing process of these shoes. I stopped wearing them after a 5 days. While they did soften up a bit, they still feel too tight and it's too much of an annoyance, especially on my right foot.
I’m a woman. I bought these shoes because I thought they were cute and I loved the color combo. I normally wear a womens’ 9.5 so I got these in an 8.Length-wise, the 8 is okay. But speaking as someone who doesn’t have man feet, fat feet, or wide feet, these are SUPER NARROW, very constricted shoes. I have no idea how a guy could wear these.Narrow in width, narrow in height—I feel like the tops of my foot bones are trying to bust out of the fabric. Backs are stiff so they’re not very forgiving there, either.I’m breaking them in today and hoping the fabric on top loosens up a bit. The bottoms are super stiff and not a lot of flexibility so far between the ball of my foot and my toes.On screen, the red accents look more maroon. In person, they are RED RED—we’re talking fast food clown red. So I’m glad they came with two sets of laces, and swapped the red ones with the tan immediately. I’m all for a quirky shoe but that was borderline “rental bowling shoes” territory from a visual aspect.Product photos show the Element brand printed on the toe cap. It is not printed on my pair of shoes.Rating a four star instead of three because I am optimistic that I can break these in and the quality is really nice. I’ve already gotten compliments on them.
