I have had two pairs of Merrell Shiver Mocs, and those shoes were amazing. Sold the last pair because I bought them cheap a half size too small so they never worked for more than getting the mail or light shoveling. Been without them for awhile now and was dealing with a power outage due to heavy snow in Wisconsin, snowblowing/shoveling a lot, sub zero wind chill factors, ice and snow everywhere, running all over the place, and all I really had to wear was a decent pair of Sorels and an old pair of Chamberlains. The Chamberlains are great but are a mid calf boot with a lot of lacing; same with the Sorels which have even less traction. So, I was missing my Shivers. That was a long story to set the table to tell you I ordered these for under $50 in black. They’re awesome. Light, comfortable, very grippy on snow and ice, and warm. Great for anything in the cold weather. Driveway maintenance, dog walking, errand running, etc. I also bought a pair of Nova 3 but liked these better from both a fit and look perspective. Only thing I would wish different about these is that they have the Nova 3 front and back loops, but these slide on pretty easily without needing to bend. The Nova 3 were a too “moonbooty” for me with the tighter stitching.
I thought they'd be a lot warmer. But they are comfortable and better than my Brooks in the cold weather. Still warm and seem to be good on slippery surfaces. My plantar fasciitis hasn't really acted up with them. And they fit good. Happy with my purchase.
As title said, it is a nice shoe, comfy and warm. The opening is a bit hard to get in, that's why it's 1 star off. However, I instantly returned it, because the product arrived damaged. The shipping box was totally fine, but the shoe box and the shoes are damaged. Therefore obviously it was damaged before being shipped. Amazon should pay attention to the quality control. The 4 star is for the shoe itself, 1 star off due to the opening being tight. The star rating not affected by Amazon quality control.
Needed a warm slipper / house shoe that provided support and traction on hardwood floors. This sneaker moc met the ask - sizing is as expected (purchased size 13 which is typical tennis show size) and fits well (I do have narrow feet). Fuzzy lining provides warmth even if not wearing socks, and insole / sole provides support and good traction even when wearing outside.
I read where someone took points off these for not being suitable for winter in Alaska. That's like taking points off a bike for it not being suitable as a flotation device. At any rate, they are suitable for a Massachusetts winter in light snow. I didn't want to go through the process of putting on the big boy boots shoveling some snow and these kept the feet warm and dry in probably 25 degree weather. On another occasion I walked my dog a few miles on a warmer day (50 degrees plus) and they were great, super comfortable and not hot at all, plus they're really light. That being said, we'll have to see how they hold up, but right now they are a solid 5, especially at the discounted price for the orange variety.
Merrill produces many great quality shoes, and the Mocs are a great pair of walking shoes. They’re very comfortable to the feet and soft as well. I purchased a couple of pairs for casual wear, and I highly recommend them to you.David
Very impressed with these so far. It took about a year to get a shoe that was truly water proof, warm, a slip-on, and, can grip the ice. These look a little weird, but what does not now a days. So along with, my dad cap, my dad jeans, I am now rocking my dad Yeezys.
Great color and wearable all day.
