I was in a motorcycle accident that shattered my leg, ankle, and foot, leaving me with limited mobility on my left side. I love to dance, and have been wanting to take some ballroom dance lessons, but I can never wear any heels again, and wondered about the range of motion limitations that I will have to deal with forever now. I'm not one to be told "I can't" do anything, so I thought that these shoes, with the suede toe sole would allow me a little more movement than regular sticky-shoes.I am able to move around better--not great, but not too bad. The slippery (not too slippery, though) sole allows me more "slide" than a regular shoe, even with the hard leather soles. The arch support is really nice--I have little to no structural support skeletally in my left foot now, and have to wear special shoes that transfer my weight off of the front of my feet--these do the trick relatively well, and are comfortable. They equalize my weight across the bridge of my foot instead of placing so much pressure on the front/toes.Any limitations that I do have are from my physical injuries--not the shoes. I love these shoes, and have been recommending them to my friends for dancing :)As far as the size...well, I'm a "true" 8.5. I am always checking Zappos or other shoe sites for size reviews before I buy online, and my feet are consistently an 8.5...that being said, I followed the directions of the other reviewers here, and I ordered a 10M in black and an 11M in red. I wanted the black so I could wear them with dresses/skirts (with no socks, but with hose or tights) and the red to wear with jeans (and socks). They are perfect! So, if you wear an 8.5, and you want to wear them with hose or tights, get a 10M. If you want to wear them with socks, get the 11M. Crazy sizing, but luckily we have this review system so we don't have to be shipping them back and forth until we get it right. They are very snazzy, too. I got lots of compliments on them! :)
I wear a size 7 to 7.5 ladies street shoe and these size 8 salsa sneakers fit perfectly - go with 1 size larger than street shoe. The arch support was good and the overall fit was cushy and supportive. The suede on the soles (everywhere except heel) was of a nice quality and stitched around the sole’s perimeter in addition to being glued down. The shoe has an attractive shape and nice contrast accents. The shoe is also light and breathable. The only negative is that it didn’t come with a shoe bag or box (not so necessary). I wouldn’t have minded paying a few more dollars for a branded bag though. I especially liked the fact that with Amazon prime you have free returns/exchanges.
I almost decided not to order due to the very confusing shoe size. I wear 7.5 street shoes. The drop down size chart suggests 8M. However, having read through the reviews, I ordered 9. The pair I received is size 11. It is very confusing. Surprisingly, they fits alright but a bit loose. I wear them to line dance with thick socks. They're quite comfortable. They're also quite light which is important for me. All said, I like the shoes but wonder if 8 would fit better. I'd like to order another pair and thinking about ordering size 8 although I do not want to go through the hassle to return if too tight. It is really a shame for such nice shoes have such confusing sizing.
Shoes fit as expected according to size chart. I wear them for Zumba. I have been doing Zumba on and off for about 8 years and had been trying to find a pair of shoes to replace my old New Balance shoes that had been discontinued. These were comfortable and were easy to move in, no more sticking to the floor. I only wear them in class and change to my regular running shoes when done with class. So far 3 classes in and they work great. Price was great too. BTW-I had a small problem with one of the inserts (it was too big for the shoe), I got a pair of scissors and cut it down to fit and everything worked great.
I wear an 8.5 in a street shoe, but in ballroom dance shoes I wear a 7.5 so that they are snug. I ordered an 8 by mistake. It was too small. I returned and ordered a 10. It was way too big. I returned that one and ordered a 9 based on the sizing chart and my dance shoe size. I mean if the 8 is too small and 10 is too big. Then a 9 should work right? Well I got the "9" I ordered and it fit perfect! Only when I went to take them off and looked at the bottom, it says size 10...so go figure! Once on, it is cushy and padded all the way around so I do like it. But if you want it, order the size based on your dance shoe size and not your street shoe size. And in the end you may order 3 just to get the right size.
Wanted a pair of sz 9 Sansha (ie, shoes marked sz 9 on sole; I realize that as these are not US sizing, the stamped size on the shoe will not correlate with one's U.S. shoe size). Ordered sz 9, expecting shoes stamped sz 9; got sz 10. Spoke to Amazon rep, who sent another sz 9 as exchange. Again received sz 10. Spoke to another Amazon rep, who suggested since I was getting 10's when I ordered 9's, I should order 8's to get a 9. I ordered sz 8; but rather than getting sz 9 shoes, I got shoes stamped sz 8. Called Amazon again; rep placed a ticket for this problem to be looked into, indicating that while it was worked on, size 9 would be removed from website listing, which did occur. Then, sz 9's reappeared in listing, so I again ordered sz 9. Again got sz 10. Called Amazon again; rep said apparently the problem had not been rectified. She placed another ticket describing the problem today, and we'll see if Amazon gets its act together.
