Holy cr..! I love these sketcher work shoes! I have used them for 8 hour days at work, 3 days in a row, landscape/gardening, for the past two months approx. They are roomy and comfy. I have a slightly wide foot (not true wide) and they are not compressed at my toes. They could probably use an insert from more arch support, but are comfortable for the 8 hours and I have not put in a support yet. They are waterproof. They are warm enough down to mid-40's. A bit too hot for over 70's. But still used them. Because they are waterproof. I stepped in a deep puddle toe/laces all the way in. Foot did not get wet! I was in shock. They are slip resistant. Wet grass, on a hill, didn't slip. I tend to get debris in from top around ankles and have spent a few minutes dumping them out, but otherwise nearly a perfect comfortable work shoe AND STYLISH! They look good. Couldn't ask for more for a 3 season outdoor work shoe. They should make a high top style and a pair with thinsulate for winter. Well done Sketchers!
I work in the restaurant industry and these shoes are amazing!! The sturdiness is great as well I have not slipped at all wearing these.
Please read my story if you are considering buying these. In short - don't buy them!I'm a college student in my 20's working in a restaurant where I run around a lot and the kitchen always has water or oil spilled all over the floor, and employees slip often and recommended buying non-slip shoes. When I got these, they were uncomfortable and provide ZERO cushioning inside, giving me horrible blisters despite wearing good socks. It was like wearing hard cardboard. The material is really stiff. I assumed I just needed to "break them in" so I was patient and began wearing 2 pairs of socks and band-aids to prevent from getting blisters on the back of my heels.Nope. These were still uncomfortable 6 months later. By the end of the night my toes were sore from being pinched (and yes the shoe was my correct size) and I still got blisters on my heels from how badly they cut into the back of my ankles. Even with socks, it still rubbed and dug into my heels. The laces were also way too short. They were hard to tie and came undone a lot due to how short they were. Big pain in the butt.Slipping -- the anti-slip grip isn't even that good! I still slipped sometimes. That part really ticked me off.Overall, these shoes are cheap, don't work as promised, and extremely uncomfortable. Again, I'm a broke college student working minimum wage, and I regret wasting money on these SO MUCH.
Work
These shoes look great, but I can't wear them for a minute. They fit big, with almost an inch to spare past my toes. This could be the reason why there is a chunk of sewing seam (where the tongue is sewn onto the shoe) that presses in to the joint where my pinky toe is sewn onto my foot. (Kind of where people develop bunions, I don't know the anatomical name.) It feels like a big rock pressing into my foot with every step: extreme pain.I would like to try these shoes in a smaller size to find out if this sewing seam will land on a part of my foot where I would not feel it. Because they do look like an ideal work shoe.
I got one pair and it literally had poop on them and were a half size too small so I returned them. But I ordered a second pair mainly because of the size issue with the first one, the poop was gross but not a deal breaker. But during my first shift making those super dank smoothies I discovered they were not slip resistant when I began mopping the floor. Thinking these shoes would protect me from the smoothie store slippage I stepped with confidence onto the moist floor only to be betrayed by my supposedly slip resistant new shoes. I almost died several times during my shift because the slippage was too intense for these weak ass shoes. 3/10 would not recommend if working in an equivalently slippery environments. As a pro these shoes were cute, I did like the style, and they were comfortable and I would have not been mad if I slipped and fell to my death wearing them because I would be styling as a corpse with these shoes on.
I'm a stage lighting technician with bone spurs, bunions and other foot trouble as a result of 30 years on my feet. I got these for days I don't need safety toes. Everything about this shoe is perfect for my bad feet. The toe box is roomy and the stitching is strategically located so it's not over the bunion. The laces open wide enough to get past the bunion without pain. The sole is very flexible and the shoe itself is padded enough not to aggravate the bone spurs. Just did a full day with 5 trips up to the attic with no pain. Bonus points for being all black with no reflective stuff for the stage blacks requirements.
I've realised that this sneaker is geared toward people who work but in most of the Caribbean island pure black sneakers are mandatory for school - this review is especially directed to my fellow Caribbean people.I previously purchased another style of sketchers sneakers and was plesantly surprised that it lasted the entire school year - usually I'm forced to purchase one pair of sneakers, sometimes even two, per term (every 3 months). For me this sneaker is not the prettiest style, but it's very similar to the converse so my daughter (pre-teen) had no objections. I loved that the toe box is adequate so that toes are not squished up and I had selected a D not wide with. The shell that covers the toes is also sturdy enough to withstand an accidental or even deliberate stamp on the foot or kicking of a ball. That it's both water and dust resistant and can be easily cleaned with just a damp cloth is a bonus. This sneaker as advertised by the manufacturer is "built to last". Itis well constructed and I would recommend it's purchase. The one complaint is not about the shoe but the freight handling cost. In the end these charges proved to be just a few dollars short of the price I paid for the sneakers including the shipping ... our exchange rate is almost $7.00 to 1 USD - that was a real and expensive shock!
