Skechers, established in 1992, has grown from a utility footwear brand to a global leader in lifestyle and performance shoes. Their mission is to create stylish, high-quality footwear that's comfortable and affordable for everyone.
Skechers stands for innovation in comfort technology. They've developed unique features like Skechers Memory Foam™ and Goga Mat™ insoles to deliver unparalleled comfort in every shoe they design.
I've had three pairs of these over the last 6 years. If you work in an environment like a hanger or industrial manufacture, these are for you. They are comfortable, and will hold up to most crap on the floor. If you walk alot in your job, you'll get about a year and a half on these on the memory foam inner sole. The inner padding is glued down and lasts about 6-8 months. Just pull it out and replace with a inner sole of your choice, from Dr Scholl or your choice of replacement. Fit is good, as advertised, and the only part that really wears down first is the heel portion, where you would use a shoe-spoon. I work in aviation, they last me, are composite toed, Not heavy like a boot, and are comfy enough or all day use. Give them a week for break in like you would any shoe.
This shoe is comfortable and protects my feet while at work for 10-11 hours per day. They are non-slip so I am assured not to wipe out while hurriedly walking. The only drawback I have is that they are a bit heavy, but that's also what makes them a sturdy work shoe.
Purchased 12 Extra Wide Relaxed fit - Usual size is 12 W, 2E, or 4EPros:Very comfortable to walk on concrete all dayMemory foam insole offers great impact absorptionSole is fairly stiff, offering pain relief for conditions like hallux rigidus or plantar fasciitisGood value compared to other work shoe brandsRuns true to size, plenty of space for extra thick socksComposite toe doesn't dig in or hinder comfort in any wayCons:Shoe can get hot and sweaty in warmer conditionsMemory foam insole doesn't have strong strong arch supportInsole is glued in, making it difficult to replace when the original wears out, or if you just want more arch supportThere's very little actual leather in the uppers - Shoe get scraped up easily leaving it looking ragged after 6 months of indoor use.Despite durability issues, the Grinnel is the most comfortable work shoe I've ever worn. The sole is designed to be slip resistant on smooth surfaces so it's best use is indoors or on pavement.
Work policy requires safety toe shoes. I work in office and usually wear dress pants or khakis. These are not dress shoes so I lose points for style but the safety and comfort with the gel insoles and smooth stride sole, are worth every penny. Redwing or others demand hundreds for steel or safety toe loafers and these are my third pair. They last over a year of daily use. I owe my toes to skechers safety toe shoes that saved my foot after a 150 lb. Valve fell on my toes at work 5 years ago..They are lifesavers.
I thought I would start with the pro's and con's.Cons: I can only find two cons for me and those are why I rated these with 3 stars. For me the main con is design and appeal. This shoe's design looks like a pair of starter shoes you can buy at the local Walmart. It does not have the tipical sketchers look and appeal. Also, the hard toe is a bit unnecessary for me and really takes away from the design. They also feel a little big and every time I look down I feel like Im wearing clown shoes. Not athletic feeling in the least bit. Feels more like a work boot with tennis shoe skins around it. If I wanted to wear boots I would have bought boots. Very poor design!Pro's: the memory foam feels awesome on your feet. Very comfortable there, however, the hard composite toe is kind of uncomfortable. That being said, the tread and anti skid sole is awesome. I work hauling cars on a semi. We are outside in all elements of weather and work 9 feet off the ground on metal ramps that get very slick when it rains. These soles have great grip and I feel stable and secure.Bottom line; if your are looking for comfort, appeal, and traction looks elsewhere, but if you don't care about those things and need a hard toe, traction, and comfort these are perfect.
I have tried a few different safety shoes recently, and I am happy to say that I have settled on these Skechers. They may not be the most durable, most comfortable, the highest quality, or the best looking. What they offer is the best combination of these features I have been able to find in this type of safety shoe. And on top of that, they are reasonably priced, so you can afford to replace them more frequently.I ordered the widest fit in my size; it seems that most all of the shoes with the rigid safety toe tend to confine the toes a LOT more than regular shoes. These shoes are the most comfortable safety shoes I have owned so far. They feature built-in gel soles, and they are much easier to get on and off than others I have had.Complaints: Really the only issue I have with these, (and any safety shoes/boots), is how heavy they are. I have to pay attention to how high I lift my legs when I walk, or I will stumble constantly. In summary, I don't think you can beat these for occasional use, economical safety shoes.
I reached out to the manufacturer with no response. These shoes actually feel great. They are nice for walking, as I expected a Sketcher shoe to be. The problem is, these are safety shoes, for working.I suppose if you used these shoes to walk around in a sparkling clean warehouse environment, they would be fine. However, the sole design of these shoes is not very good at all. It is designed with tiny slits in the sole instead of a typical 'lug' design. The problem is, everything - and I mean everything gets wedged, and crammed into these slits and sticks in there. I work in a warehouse with a fairly dirty floor, with granular products on the floor. These slits in the shoes are completely full of dry, dirty, contamination, and they can't be cleaned.Terrible design, I wish I could return these after using them but the return policy states that returns are only accepted on un-used products.Nice. Can someone tell me how and why you would buy these, receive them, never try them on, and decide to return them? What a crappy policy, and I will remember this purchase and the lack of customer service from Sketchers. There's lots of other options out there. No need to patronize a company like this.
