. The reason I share this is to point out my insights on toe shape and leathers. The Ariat Legend boots are square toed boots. The reviews pretty much made it clear that one should order a 1/2 to a full size down because the toe shape has a roomier fit. So, I ordered a 1/2 size down (8.5 C). I am pleased to report that the length for me was absolutely correct. A 9 would have been too long and an 8 would have been too short. However, the boot was very tight across the instep and painful --much more so than this Heritage boot. My toes actually started feeling a bit numb. My ankles were rubbed by the seam. The leather was very stiff and seemed unforgiving. My first try-on was with my normal medium weight sock. So, I gave my feet a rest and tried on the boots later with a thin sock. The fit was better but the ankle rub was worse with such a thin sock but I wore them around the house anyway because I still did not experience true biting pain as I had with other brands of boots. Just like the Heritage, by that night I knew I had a keeper but one that would require some work to break in. My earlier research had also told me that Deertanned leather (my black Heritage boots) is a leather that is tanned to be very soft and supple and it is! It is unknown what type of process is used to tan the leather for the Legend boot but it is stiff. I also read that brown leathers are typically more stiff than black leathers but I do not know if that is a fact. Nevertheless, these Legend boots were stiff! Once again, I applied leather conditioner and once again I now have a boot that I can wear without pain. I have not yet got them to the point where I can wear thick socks so I won't be wearing them all day until I do ... it is a work in progress. In Summary....• I suggest that you go to the Ariat website and grab that size chart to measure your feet.• With an R toe, I recommend you go with the size you measure from the chart.• With a Square toe, it is recommended to go down 1/2 to a full size. Some say more if you have narrow feet.• Deertanned leather is more supple.• Brown leathers are typically stiff causing the instep to be very tight at first. - Wear your thinnest sock and try to wear the boots for an hour (just around the house so they can be returned if necessary). Then, come back to the boot later to see if the leather stretched enough to make you feel confident that a full breaking-in will give you the perfect fit.• I encourage using leather conditioner to soften the leather and ultimately protect your investment. - Note: Leather conditioners do darken the leather because the leather becomes moisturized.
I love these boots! The color was as pictured, copper brown and the fit snug but comfy. I didn't realize my last Ariats same style were Wide, and these are Medium, size B, but still fit. I considered ordering a boot stretcher, but just wearing them a couple days they've loosened up enough. Quality of leather and sole is excellent!
Needed waterproof western boots for daily wear in the saddle and at the stable and these fit like a glove and feel great on. Padded footbed, genuine leather upper, rubber sole for waterproof, round toe, low heel for ease of getting in and out of stirrup, great looks, feel, durability of genuine leather can't be duplicated or need to be replaced. Just condition them periodically and enjoy.
I purchased the Black Pair for a festival, and was first questioning the price (Did not want to ruin them). But honestly I am glad I purchased. They are alittle tight around the foot area at first. I usually wear a 6 1/2 and I ordered a size 7. I did wear them to the festival, and had to change my shoes at the festival though as there was alot of walking, but by day 2 I was able to put them on no problem. 3 days to fully break in from my experienceGreat Quality!! Great Boot!! I will be buying the Brown pair soon.
I have a pair of Ariat Legend boots that I just love - perfect fit and sturdy. I've worn them almost daily for the last 7 years. I was planning to replace them with the same thing but couldn't find Ariat Legend in my size (7 medium), so I thought I'd try these Ariat Heritage boots since they look very similar. But they do not fit the same. I ordered size 7 medium but they are tight across the top of my foot.
I purchased these boots because I've been looking for cowgirl boots with rubber, work-boot soles, that are good for working at the barn but are attractive enough to wear with jeans to a social outing. These definitely fit the bill!I saw from other reviewers that you should size down. I wear a 7.5 or 8 depending, so I ordered a 7.5. They fit a bit narrow and they are very difficult to get on...and I do not have a wide foot. However, all new cowgirl boots are this way until they are broken in, so I did not mark them down since this is to be expected. I have somewhat wide calves, so I always worry about purchasing boots online, but I didn't need to worry, these boots have a lot of space if calf circumference is a concern for you. If I were buying these from a store, I would probably get the size 8 due to the narrowness of the boots, but the 7.5 will be fine so long as I don't wear thick socks. The leather appears to be very thick, very high quality. The color is a little darker than pictured, but I like them enough that I'm not going to return for that reason alone. The boots are VERY comfortable once on. I could definitely work all day in these boots. I'm so glad I found these! They are offered at a very good price for what you get! I paid $140ish for boots that are usually priced around $200.
Received a boot that had a tag stating it was a wide calf when I didn’t want a wide calf. I was so disappointed and now I won’t have boots for the event I needed it for.
Ariat makes wonderful quality boots, very comfortable, and always fashionable. The fit was great the color not what I expected more yellow. Sent the boots back.
