In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

I used to wear Asics Tiger Gel Kayanos for walking. However, if you're like me (which I didn't know at first), if you want to be more planted or more rooted to the ground, the TR4 is for you. Prior, I thought the Kayanos were the ultimate walking shoe (aside from its normal purpose, running). They are stable, very cushioning and just comfortable. However, after wearing the TR4s for a while, I found that I prefer a more grounded feel than the Kayanos so I switched. As I continue to wear the TR4s, I find my foot adjusting more and more to this shoe and the shoes are getting better and better. As for working out, they work very well too. I do not know about the durability yet but for performance, the TR4 is among the best I've tried once your foot adjusts to it. It's not for everyone though, it just depends on what you prefer.
Asics shoes always fit me well, I guess the lasts they use are consistent with my foot shape. What I like is they fit the first day and are immediately comfortable and only improve with time. I've worn many other brands over the years, (I'm 75 yrs old) but have settled on Asics for all my sport shoes because of the fit, quality and comfort.
Love the style and comfort of these now that they're broken in but as some other reviewers pointed out these do fit a little snug.. initially these felt a bit awkward despite purchasing my usual shoe size.
Maybe these are only for indoor use but the white part of the sole shows a lot of wear after just 4 miles of walking. The upper is light and comfortable. My foot is a 9 1/2 EE, I bought this shoe in a size 10 and it fits well.
I love these shoes, specifically for their fit and functionality. I have slightly narrow feet, but I find that these shoes fit perfectly. They have a lacing system that secures my feet comfortably. I normally wear a 10.5 or 11 (in most Asics) and went with an 11 for these and found this size as the best-fitting. They also have decent arch support, which is great for my flat feet.I mostly use these shoes for my workouts which are HIIT oriented, normally doing 3-6 exercises in a short amount of time. I sometimes incorporate sprints, as well. I wouldn't recommend these as a dedicated running shoe, but short distances (up to a mile for me) would be just fine.Overall, excellent shoe (and my favorite workout/casual shoe)!
Been wearing Asics for years for running and training; it seems to be the only brand that keeps me blister-free. So when it came time to replace my worn out trainers, I hit the Asics website hoping to buy a newer model of what I had, only to find out the selection/models were all new and unfamiliar...and very limited. But with a name like Gel Craze, how could I go wrong?Unfortunately, I did find the fit to be a bit tight, but I attribute that to just needing to break them in. I did match the soles up with my used pair, and they seemed to be the same. But the sole was completely sub-par. Good cushion in the heal, but seemingly none in the forefoot and toe - like none. I get it's not a running shoe, but it's supposed to be more comfortable than walking barefoot, and sadly for me, these were not.Asics - stick with a model so users can buy updated versions of what they already know they like.
The ASICS Gel-Craze TR 4 Cross-Trainer offers everything that I look for in a cross-trainer. I has good support, just the right arch, is light weight and stylish.
Shoes are used mostly for weight training. They provide enough stability and the soles are not too soft, even with heavier weights. The shoes also work well for short cardio / warm-up sessions. The overall fit a bit tighter than ASIC running shoes of the same size I have used before, so I would suggest ordering these at least a 1/2 size larger than what one may otherwise be wearing.
