Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

Fit was great but glad we were fitted at our local store before we ordered, these shoes run about 3.5 sizes too small. My daughter has a street shoe size 2.5 and we rdered a 6 which was the correct size for her. Sizing is very wonky! But great shoe.
I recently purchased the Capezio Women's Freeform Jazz and Ballet Shoe, and overall, I am quite satisfied with my choice. These shoes offer a comfortable and versatile option for dancers who engage in both jazz and ballet, providing a solid performance in various settings. One of the standout features of these shoes is their flexibility. The Freeform design lives up to its name, allowing for a wide range of movement. This flexibility is particularly advantageous when transitioning between ballet and jazz techniques. I appreciate the freedom these shoes provide during intricate footwork and leaps. The leather construction of the shoe offers durability and longevity. The material holds up well to regular use, making them a reliable choice for both rehearsals and performances. The split sole design contributes to the overall flexibility, giving a good balance between support and mobility. The Capezio Women's Freeform Jazz and Ballet Shoe also provides adequate arch support. This feature is crucial for dancers who spend extended periods on their feet, helping to prevent fatigue and discomfort during long rehearsals. The cushioning is sufficient without compromising the feel of the floor, striking a good balance between comfort and connection with the dance surface. While the shoes generally fit well, some dancers may find that sizing can be a bit tricky. It's advisable to try them on before purchasing, as individual preferences for fit can vary. Additionally, the elasticized binding may take some time to break in, so dancers should be prepared for a brief adjustment period. In conclusion, the Capezio Women's Freeform Jazz and Ballet Shoe is a solid choice for dancers seeking a versatile and comfortable option for both jazz and ballet. The flexibility, durability, and arch support make them a reliable companion in the studio. Despite minor considerations like sizing and break-in time, these shoes deliver a satisfactory performance, earning them a solid four-star rating in my book.
Does run a bit small but I took that into consideration when selecting size. Very comfortable and VERY flattering, enhances the arch.
The shoe runs extremely small and the return process is a hassle. Haven’t received my return and had to purchase another pair which didn’t fit either. Now I have to return the new pair and haven’t received my original refund.Wouldn’t recommend any dance studio to chose this show because of refund policy
Too small
I read the reviews and heard that most people suggested going up by 1 1/2 - 2 sizes then street shoe. I did the 2 sizes up and it was too big. Maybe 1 1/2 would be better and perhaps it makes a difference the larger you go. As for comfort...I did not find them comfortable. With the split sole, the heel is just rough on my feet. That area is so sore after wearing them. I had hoped I could break them in a bit but after a few weeks I don't know if they will feel better. I usually buy jazz sneakers for more support but I bought these as a quick pair to slip on. Are they the worst shoes in the world?...No, but for those reviews that said "I didn't even know I was wearing them"...I call baloney.
I love these shoes. THey fit nicely and look good. I have wide feet and they don't squeeze too tight or hurt my big toenail, like other jazz shoes I've had. I don't wear them often, but I feel like if I did, I would wear holes in them easily as the leather is so soft. Please be aware of this if you are hard on your jazz shoes. If you just need them for auditions or the occasional class/rehearsal, they should be fine.
I use these to teach classes. They are super comfortable and flattering on the foot.
