Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. Leather is thick but supple. Elastic is fantastic, grips and doesn't slide off the heel. Sizing was true as well.
Quality soft leather. Lovely little ballet half.I plan to “be creative” and put over top my non dance shoes for practice ballroom…unfortunately the XL was not large enough. I will look for larger size.. maybe men’s version.Lovely item for its original purpose. I’m just too “middle age” and need cushion and support…and my creative idea did not work.

My daughter wears this brand of pirouette shoe. I have purchased them several times over the years with no problems. However, this time the material came loose from the bottom of the toe within a few days. Maybe just stitched wrong, but it will not keep me from ordering again. Product does the job, and they are comfortable.
