After finding other sellers offering the same waterproof, insulated Chippewa style boot # with photographs looking quite different, I was thrilled to receive exactly what was pictured on Amazon's website ..AND at a substantial discount price! Boots are extremely comfortable, and warm! No break-in time necessary! Nice, sturdy but flexible sole...lighter than my previous Chippewa boots' soles that were rather deep-scored & stiff.I highly recommend these sturdy, good-looking deep mahogany-brown leather boots!
My husband said the boots are very comfortable he works in construction and he would like a second pair
This is the second pair of Chippewa's that I have bought for a winter work boot. The first pair that I bought lasted me through two winter seasons. When I first got these boots I was impressed with how supple the leather was. They do not take more than one good day of work to break in well. This has been the same with both pairs. The first pair that I bought had one of the metal boot lace grommets break off within the first week. Luckily there was still a metal reinforced hole underneath so it didn't render the boots unusable. This did make them harder to get on and off. It is also the reason I am deducting one star. The leather held up much better than I was expecting given my experience with other winter work boots, mostly Timberlands. I am usually working on muddy sites and wire brush my boots when I'm leaving. They held up to this punishment. Even three years on there is very little cracking. After two years the linings on the inside did wear through near the heel. This made them slightly more susceptible to wetness, but I was able to clean off the leather and apply Nikwax which solved the problem. In reordering these boots I at first ordered the same size I previously had 11 and found them to be a bit snug. Stepping up a half size and ordering the wide version got the fit right. I have seen in some other reviews that they tend to run a bit small. I wear them with thick socks (it's cold out) so this might be part of the fit issue. I noticed that sizing up half also seems to keep my toes warmer.I have found them soles to be very nice on my feet and provide all day comfort. The Vibram soles provide good tracking without big lugs that track unholy amounts of dirt into my house.I think for the price, around $180, it would be hard to find a better boot.
First off I've owned half a dozen pairs of chippewa boots, these are no different. Great quality wear good, but a little on the heavy side. I'll update this a year in or so.
Great boot too tight
I ordered a pair of Chippewa Men's 6" Waterproof Insulated 72125 Utility Boot, and received a pair of Chippewa Men's Serious Plus Waterproof Work Boot Composite Toe. This pair of boots, is also miss marked as the size is marked 13W. I have been sized time and time again as a 13W and this is not that, but maybe a 12R. With the laces totally lose but tied the instep is still bearing down on the top of the feet, in the toe box my toes are rubbings the front of the boots "both feet" . I am calling the distributer in Dallas and asking for the right boot ordered and paid for and the boot that came is is also cheaper. "THE SHELL GAME, OR THOSE DAMN CHINEESE ARE HACKING SHOES NOW?
good looking boot
Product was too tight in toe area
