Clarks, a name synonymous with comfort and quality, began in 1825 with two brothers, Cyrus and James Clark. Their story started with a simple idea: crafting slippers from sheepskin offcuts. This dedication to resourcefulness and innovation has been at the heart of Clarks for nearly 200 years.
Clarks prioritizes both comfort and timeless design. They are pioneers in foot-shaped technology, ensuring a perfect fit and all-day support. Their classic styles have transcended generations, while their commitment to innovation keeps them at the forefront of modern footwear trends.
I love these boots. They are lightweight, comfortable, look great, seem well-made, and won't break the bank. The leather seems to be high quality and looks beautiful. Once they're broken in, they feel almost like slippers. The crepe sole is super flexible and springy, and very comfortable to walk on. What more could you ask for?I will undoubtedly wear these until they fall apart, then buy another pair, and repeat! That said, here's some sizing advice: I would suggest ordering these one-half size smaller than you usually wear. Some reviewers say to order a full size smaller, but for me, that would be too much. I usually wear a 10.5, and I bought these in a 10; they seemed quite snug at first, but after a few weeks, they fit like a glove! They also seem to be relatively narrow shoes, so if you usually wear wides, you might want to stay away. The only small negatives: They provide almost no arch support; my feet don't mind this, but yours might. Also, the crepe soles turn black and look filthy after just a week. Oh well - people don't see the bottoms of your feet all that often. Finally, they don't seem to breath all that well, but that might just be the way all-leather shoes are.As far as care goes: I have been inserting Woodlore cedar shoe trees immediately after taking my boots off each day, and I think this will help greatly in keeping them looking great for a long time to come. The Clarks site suggests using a conditioner/protector with oils and lanolin, so I applied some Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam (which contains lanolin, oil and beeswax). It darkened the boots a shade or two, which I'm okay with, though I prefer the original color - so be careful. It did provide the conditioning and protection I was looking for, though.So... buy a pair now - you won't regret it!
I don't normally make the effort to write reviews but I felt I had to for these boots. The first time I put them on they fit decently well, were moderately comfortable, and looked nice but didn't really blow my mind as they say. I wore these for my regular work week of 10 hours per day, 5 days a week, and in my job I am on my feet at all times, walking around. After just 1 week of this, the boots are now broken in and have conformed to my feet. Now they are the most comfortable shoes I ever have owned. I can wear these for 12 hour shifts and not feel any discomfort on my feet. And, with some use and wear and tear they look even better than when they did new. Unreal. Not only that, but to my surprise I received compliments from my coworkers and other people I interact with. Although they are a simple design, I think it's the fact that it is a classic, clean design that makes people notice them.In any case, I cannot believe I have been wearing sneakers all my life when there are boots like these that provide as much comfort and 1000 times more style. Makes any man look smarter and more stylish. These should be part of every guy's shoe arsenal as a stylish every day boot/shoe.My only regret is ordering only a half size down. They are still a little big so I would order a full size down for the perfect fit. In fact, I already have!
I have never been a big connoisseur of fashion, much less shoes and boots. I used to go around wearing sneakers all the time for every event I'd go to whether it was class, a walk, a party, a nice dinner with a date, or something else. I finally decided to upgrade to Sperrys a year or two ago and wore only them for nearly 8 months time. After seeing the wear and tear consistent and daily use did to my Sperrys I decided to look into getting some more shoes - particularly a pair of shoes or boots that I could wear in the winter that would go well with jeans.Lo and behold, I found the Clarks Desert Boots! I purchased these shoes in early November and have been wearing them most days for daily use this winter. And let me say, they have been amazing!Pros:- They have an authentic look- Very comfortable, even for extended periods of wear- They seem very rugged and durable for everyday use - much more so than the sperrys I was wearing beforeCons:- They seem to run a half size to a size bigger than most other shoes. I guess this is relatively common knowledge, but definitely still something to note- No soles whatsoever on the bottom meaning they aren't the best for outdoor activities. I get that these boots aren't built for that so it probably isn't really a con, but it was one of those things that as an ignorant buyer I was not aware of.- The shoelaces are garbage. Absolute garbage. I've been using these shoes for a little over 3 months and both of the shoelaces have snapped in half. These shoes are built to last, why give them shoelaces that give out after a few months of activity? I am very disappointed in this aspect of these shoes and is the sole reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5.Overall, I highly recommend these shoes. For a price point averaging around $100-110, you can't beat these shoes in regards to style or build quality. Just make sure you purchase some extra sets of laces!
