Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
The comfort and lite weight are awesome! The size and fit are perfect. I have worn boots most of my life. I'm a landscape photographer, with a lot of hiking involved. I couldn't wait to try them out. I found, in a wooded relatively flat terrain,it's a 10 of 10, and in moutainous rocky terrain a 6 of 10. In rocky hill terrain, the grip was only average and the bottom of my feet were a briefly sore after. However, this style of boot was not made for heavy hiking, I was just pushing it a little. These boots are for comfort, style, and lite hiking, and they deliver!
The most comfortable boots ive ever used, mostly due to how much the leather will stretch and conform. I mostly wear the sketchers "middle aged dad" wide fit shoes that are well known for being pretty close to slippers comfort but also have to wear steel toes for work so I have good comparison points. These are very close to the sketchers, not quite, but enough that more often than not I end up wearing these instead as they are still super comfortable. I normally wear a 12 wide, so I bought a 12 regular expecting it to stretch and it in fact was very narrow and tight at first. The third use it felt great, the 5th time (after having walked about a mile in total in them) they were broken in. After wearing about 50 times now I can say that I love these and they fit me nearly perfect. The laces provided are too short for the number of eyelets in my opinion so I dont tie the top 2 rows (or maybe my feet are actually too wide) and the toe was longer than expected. These are not shiny, a matte black so they dont stand out too much, but nice enough to use as casual dress shoes. However due to the lower shine they are super easy to clean and dont show scratches as much, fairly durable so far. If there are scraches or cracks on mine I havent found them yet. Perfect for lots of walking, has a similar spring and cushon in your step comparable to name brand crocs, but you know way more comfortable. Warm enough for mild cold with thick socks which even fit with me despite how tight they were, but not too hot with thin sport socks even in the summer. Sure they arent gonna handle snow and ice that well but for Louisiana winters they are perfect, however I wear mine year around even in summer, they are just that good.
I like the quality and style of the boot, it is comfortable and easy to walk in. Needs just a hair more of cushioning, other than that excellent boot, will recommend it.
Dr. Marten’s boots are supposed to be durable, comfortable, and stylish, moreover, a staple in street fashion. They come with an extra pair of yellow/black laces. For premium-priced boots, I wish they came with the Wonder Balsam Shoe Protector, but that will cost you an extra $12.00. My size 12 US fits me comfortably with a little extra room for thick socks, so I guess it is true to size. I wore them straight out of the box, comfortable from day one; I didn't have to break them in. So will they last a year? Stay tuned.
Great fit and good looking boot.
I just got these today and I'm wearing them at work. They are very comfortable and good quality. They are worth paying a little extra for.
I write a review here and there, but I read a lot of them. That being said, I thought I’d write a review for these boots since I am in love, and I want you to be too!I got the Gaucho Crazy Horse boots. The style is casual without being too clunky, and they look like they will have a nice worn appearance after a break-in period. They come with two sets of laces: one dark brown, and one a variegated work boot lace.I usually wear a 9 1/2 in a boot and have a wide foot. I got these in the 9/10 and they are perfect!I can’t speak to the wear of these boots, but they look pretty sturdy. I can’t imagine wearing them out any time soon!If you’re debating, I say get them! You won’t be sorry!
I own several pairs of Docs in a variety of styles. Most of them are either too narrow, too long, and don't fit quite right so I have to find good insoles to get a better fit. These however, fit perfectly right out of the box! They're super lightweight and the toe box is a great shape - not too narrow or wide and fits my feet very comfortably. No insoles needed. I typically wear a size 10 in Men's for most other shoes, but I will usually order a size down for Docs since they tend to run large.
