I wear a 14 EEEEEE (6E for short), which Amazon has listed as XXW. But 5E is also XXW. Guess what? Those aren't the same thing. 5E isn't wide enough, and 6E is perfect. Enough ranting about how awful it is to purchase shoes on Amazon. On to the review of the shoe.So this shoe is actually very comfortable. Offers good rolling resistance (kept me from rolling my ankle a few times). Not as much as a boot would, but definitely more than a low-top pair of like skater shoes. The arch support is decent, and remains so throughout the life of the shoe. I weigh a lot. I mean A LOT! I have purchased this exact shoe many times, as I like the style, and because I was 380 pounds, they would only last about 6 months. The tread wears down much faster than the cushion loses support. As for the tread: It's OK. Not great, not bad. This shoe doesn't have that awful checkered clear thing in the heel that some of the other shoes have. Look at the bottom of the shoe, and if you see on the heel that there's a checkered thing, and maybe a little green triangle thing... Avoid them. The shoe wears out, and if you're anywhere where water is present (you know, like on...Earth.) those things will come loose, and start squeaking. Loudly. Or squishing. Then they'll fall out and start flopping around and make you feel off balance. They don't really add anything to the shoe, and I have no idea why Dunham keeps putting them on there. They're awful. Anyway, this shoe doesn't have those. Kudos on making at least one good shoe. The leather is decent quality, and holds up rather well, but scuffs quite easily. If you're concerned only with the durability from a "I don't want a hole wearing through on this leather upper..." standpoint: Good news! This is good to go. If you want your shoe to always remain nice and smooth, and shiny while resisting scuffs... Keep on looking. The laces are hit and miss. They're a two-part lace (a strong string in the middle, surrounded by some sort of softer anti-chaffing material). For some reason mine won't stay tied. Well, at least one shoe won't. So I end up having to double-tie them a lot. After about 4 months the laces wear down and the outer shell tears off, which is a good indicator it's about time for me to start saving up for new shoes. It's really inconvenient though. The overall comfort is great, and seeing as it's the only shoe I can wear that doesn't look like a giant billboard for the company making it. Lots of employers don't like that, so... lotta shoes are out because of a big swooshy-type thing, or a big ol "NB" on there for literally no reason and I can't wear them. These being plain, black (my favorite color for shoe) and not having that terrible sole means I'm pretty well stuck buying these. Will buy again. Unless I find some other pair of shoes that's not crazily expensive, and lasts more than 6 months. Let me know if you have any recommendations.
Summer was ending and, I was looking to invest in a durable work shoe that would last me through the rainy season. I was a little worried about investing in footwear, but they've lasted from August to February before showing signs of wear. The 4x wide size is ACTUALLY 4x wide--a feature I found not to be true of all "wide" shoe sizes. The treads have survived half a year of heel pivots and foot dragging and look like they'll hold up for a few more seasons at least. The waterproof design is great; the tongue doesn't separate from the sides and the leather doesn't leak even after getting soaked. The bad news is that after six months, the sides of the sole and the upper started to separate a bit where the toes bend. This has led to some soggy socks, but a small amount of Shoe Goo solved that problem quickly. For the price I paid, I didn't expect this problem until at least nine months in, but that may just be high expectations or underestimating the abuse I put these through. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the quality of these boots.
I ordered an 11 6E and it fit perfect. It's a good looking and very comfortable boot. Nice cushion around the ankles and I found the leather to be a nice pliable softer leather as opposed to the harder leather that so many boots use. I have arthritis and some sore toe joints and I love the fit and feel of these. I'm so afraid to buy any foot ware on the internet because of so many foot fit issues but figured I could send these back several times if needed. Instead, I loved them right out of the box first time. Good looking, appears to be well made, and comfortable. I'm very pleased.
I have difficulty finding shoes that fit. I'm a 12B in Allen Edmonds. So I always start my search first on size and width and discovered these Dunham weatherproof boots on Amazon. I ordered size 12 narrow (B,C). The boots fit perfectly and were comfortable to wear right out of the box. They look sharp and I've worn them to business meetings in the snowy regions I cover. I haven't tested the waterproof capability yet, but should soon. The only thing I don't like is that these boots are not slip-proof on ice. That's not a huge deal, most of my shoes aren't slip-proof. But I had to tip-toe on icy sidewalks and parking lots on a recent trip to Montana. I'm still giving a 5-star rating, that's how pleased I am with the purchase.
I do a lot of walking on my job and wanted a comfortable yet durable shoe/boot. This Dunham seems to be both. Though it was a bit narrow, I gave it a couple of weekends around the house and it has molded to my foot fairly decently. I wore them this week on my pest control job, getting a bit of mud and grass on them. Not only did they still look sharp, they cleaned up nicely with just a damp rag. Will try to follow up after a couple of months for a real review.
This would have been the 4th pair of Dunham boots if I had kept them. The quality was at best poor and the size 11 xx wide (which is what I've worn for years was far too small in every way a boot or shoe can be too small. I absolutely would advice against buying them.
The shoes are fine. The brown pair just a bit wide. But soon sorted it with an extra sole. The service was excellent and very quick delivery considering it was coming from Canada to US to UK. Good seller
I initially ordered my size, 9 1/2 D, which normally always applies to my feet for lace up shoes and boots. However, when I tried the boot on I found that it was so narrow I could barely pull them on and I never wear a wide width. I returned them for a size 10 wide and now they fit very comfortably. This is the reason that I gave four stars instead of five. May I suggest that Dunham investigate it's width standards? Other than that it's a great looking boot that now is very comfortable and I look forward to several years of serviceable use.
