ECCO, a Danish footwear brand founded in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy, began with a simple yet revolutionary idea: creating comfortable shoes that mimicked the barefoot walking experience. Toosbuy believed that shoes shouldn't restrict the natural movement of the foot, and ECCO's commitment to ergonomic design has been at the heart of the brand ever since.
ECCO prioritizes both comfort and style. They utilize innovative technologies and premium materials to create shoes that are anatomically shaped, lightweight, and flexible. ECCO also boasts a keen eye for design, offering a range of styles that are both functional and fashion-forward.
I love ECCO and have a few pairs. They are quickly becoming my favorite. They are good quality and can fit my orthotic. However, for some reason the black clog was gigantic on my foot in my normal size even with orthotics and socks. I had to return. I found the same clog in brown (somewhere else) and it fits like normal. Not sure why the difference in size with difference in color. Once I got a pair that fit I love them and they are one of my go-to shoes.
I like them enough to keep them, but these don’t feel or look like any of my other Ecco shoes. First of all, they are at least one size larger than marked. I’m going to wear them with big socks, but that isn’t what I ordered them for. There is a fabric footbed, unlike the beautiful leather I have come to expect. They came in an unmarked box, the whole thing just feels “off” to me.
I don't know what is going on with Ecco, but this clog and a pair of sneaker boots I bought this winter run really big. I had to go down a size in these and still had plenty of room for a high arch orthotic and had to use a flat insole as well to keep them on my feet. Still a well made Ecco shoe, but sad to see their size consistency disappear.
