They're comfortable and sturdy and good for hiking
These hiking boots are great looking. I love the lavender trim! Unfortunately for me, these do not fit. I wear a women's 10 Wide. I will often try 11's and have success. I have other pairs of Eddie Bauer hiking boots (low ankle) that are 11's and fit wonderfully. (Roseberg & Thielsen styles are the ones that fit well in case you're interested). My toes felt squished in these. I could technically wear them, but with my little toes rubbing against the sides, I would probably wind up with a blister. Plus there's no way I could go on an actual hike with the way they feel. Aside from the fit, they are nicely made.
Ok, just seeing the name Eddie Bauer drew me in because of the quality I've heard of about the company. I would say this mix of color would be my favorite choice but the boots, great! This pair has great deep treads, comfortable cushy lining that keeps my feet warm (much winter use!). Because of the height my ankles are protected. Pretty easy to lace up after the first time, these are great
I have the size 7. They have a weight of 1 pound each. So not too heavy. They have nice thick stiff tread on the bottom soul. The upper is leather and mesh. It shows to be waterproofed. There is nice padding on the footbed and around the ankle. But unfortunately there is zero arch support. The footbed is flat. These hiking boots are made in China. At the current price of eighty bucks they are obviously well overpriced. But you are paying a premium for the name. But they are better quality than other generic Chinese made boots being sold by Chinese companies on Amazon.
This is a review of the Eddie Bauer Lake Union Mid Women's Hiking Boots | Water Resistant Lightweight Mountain Hiking Boots in gray.On the plus side, these boots feel sturdy and they look so nice; they look exactly as they do in the Amazon product page photo. The boots have some heft to them and a lot of cushioning, which is so important. I have really done a lot of damage to my feet over the years (high heels over the years wasn’t such a good idea) so cushioning and comfort is everything. The boots also have an outsole with drainage, which means you can wear them in the rain and water drains from the bottom. My only critique would be about size. I normally wear anything from a 7 1/2 or 8, or even occasionally an 8 1/2 for some running shoes. I got these in the 8 and I wish I had gone up half a size because they feel a little too tight.Recommended. If you are between sizes go at least 1/2 a size up.
I am one of those people with problem feet. Shoes are my nemesis. And hiking boots and sneakers always seem to be among the worst, with little to no cushioning.Enter Eddie Bauer. These boots have ample cushioning for achy feet!!!!!! I am so excited, you have no idea. I put them on, tightened them several times as they really do have the ability to be as loose or tight as you want, and walked all over our home in them. I felt a spring in my step. They have excellent ankle support without being too obstructive or rigid, which is perfect for me and my very unstable ankles. I experimented with how tight to tie them, because if they're not tight enough, I could feel the movement and would expect some chafing. They are not too heavy and not too light. I had knee surgery 6 weeks ago and felt comfortable walking around in these without them pulling on my knee. I'm not ready for trails yet, but these will be the pair I grab the moment I am.Added bonus, the color is fantastic and they look stylish. Big win from Eddie Bauer! Great price for hikers, too.
I love everything about these hiking boots! I am surprised by how good they look in person. The colors are a little bit darker. That could be my laptop screen though. They are sized perfectly. I got a size 9 even though I can wear an 8 1/2. I like the extra room for thick socks. There is no reason to switch sizes. It is easily adjustable for wider or more narrow feet. The strings help to customize the fit for your fit. The support is great. My last pair didn't have much support. I had to wear them with insoles. Those were also a bit stiff and these are flexible. The old ones literally fell apart after the first big hike. I don't foresee any catastrophes with these. I have already tested these shoes, but not any rocky terrain yet. I have no doubt that they can take it though. These are great hiking boots and I would recommend them to anyone!
These boots have an insole that can be taken out if you use orthotics (there are some glue stripes holding the heel area, but it's easy to peel them up). The insoles are relatively thick, however, so a thinner insert might leave the boot too loose, or leave something pressing on your Achilles tendon. It takes a bit of fussing to get everything right.I found the boots to be nicely grippy, but notably sweaty. The ankle part is also uncomfortable until broken in, but that's not unusual with hiking boots.
