We have both the leather sole and rubber sole versions of these. They are simply the best slippers ever. They’re comfy to walk around the house in, they’re warm (but not too warm), our feet don’t get all sweaty, and they hold up well without getting all torn up.They’re kind of expensive, but compared to any other slipper we’ve tried they’re well worth it.
EDIT Nov ‘22: I’ve needed to order a size up, from a 40 to a 41 this year in both the bootie and the step-in style…I wear a women’s size 8.5 but still want my slippers to have plenty of room. My foot has not grown. I could wear the thickest pair of wool socks or add a shearling skin liner and the 41 would fit comfortably but more like a regular shoe. However, barefoot, I can wear a 40 and it’s fine, it feels like a regular shoe, but I like my slippers with a little extra room, so even though the 40 afforded that extra space before…it doesn’t now, so I had to return/exchange for a 41. There also seems to be a little more padding in the foot than what I remember from the pairs I bought in ‘18. Of course, it’s nearly 5 years later and those pairs have finally been run into the ground and washed quite a bit. Not bad for daily wear in the cooler months…I do have two pairs (the step in and the bootie) because I work from home and truly wear these constantly. Also, I think the rubber sole on my new pairs is a little more grippy than on my pairs from 5 years ago, so that’s an improvement…I still love the gum rubber color, I hope they don’t phase that out…and it just makes me feel a little more comfortable with light colored floors. I like the leather bottom too, but I have dogs and live in the PNW, so I need something that will do well for a quick trip outside for my best friends to use the bathroom, or a quick game of fetch from the driveway.I’ve started to add a little faux fur around the top of the slippers…just an easy stitch by hand, a pom pom or cuff, takes like 20 min from start to finish, tops, and it makes them look a little cuter if that’s your thing. Of course this depends on the faux fur you use, but mine have laundered just fine.ORIGINAL REVIEW Jan ‘18: Ugly yes, but Glerups are the best slippers you'll ever buy: they keep feet most comfortable, warm without being sweaty and the inside doesn't mash down like sherling slippers do (I'm eyeing you, UGG's). We've had several pairs over the years, leather soles (which are also lovely), the bootie style etc, but this step-in style with this *specific* rubber sole has been the best choice here in the PNW. (They've made other rubber soles in the past but in my experience, this sole has more grip, is softer and looks the best.) No odors, durable, washable (AIR DRY). We both size up one size from our usual for a little extra room: people with wide feet, prefer barefoot or minimal shoes will even like these, there's no toe restriction and the flexible bottoms still provide a little bit of ground feel.
Solved my foot discomfort. Super comfortable and high-quality. Love love love.
Great Christmas gift !
Can wear every day any where. Rubber sole . Can even wear on rainy days! So comfortable!!!
I was looking for something to wear around the house and other slippers I've worn always made my feet too warm after wearing them for a few minutes, despite being marketed as being "breathable". The Glerups are quite comfortable in this regard and I've been wearing mine constantly for several weeks since early January. As other reviewers had suggested, I ordered one size larger so that they are more on the loose side while still being comfortable without falling off. The wool will shed a little at first as you break them in, but this is mentioned as normal by the manufacturer and hasn't been an issue. Overall, these are superior quality and well worth the higher price. I expect mine to last for quite some time.
I love these shoes. I work from home. These shoes are a sockless option to keep my feet warm yet now confined. The rubber sole enables me to step out and handle myriad tasks throughout the day. They look great. I have started to purchase them as gifts, always getting rave reviews.
I searched high and low and hesitated for a long time about spending so much money on a pair of house slippers. But these are EXACTLY what I've been searching for, and they feel so good on my feet. They are form fitting, but give plenty of room in the toe box for my wide feet to feel very comfortable. I wanted the rubber soles to give a bit more traction since we have hardwood floors throughout our house. These soles make the slippers feel a bit more structured, like shoes, but are not so thick that they feel stiff like clogs. There's flex and give when I walk in them. I've worn thick winter socks in them, which make the fit pretty tight. When I go without socks, they feel almost loose by comparison, but not so loose that they'd slip off. The wool feels cozy and comfy. Not scratchy. And I haven't noticed my feet sweat in them. When it's really cold in the house, I definitely need to wear socks, because there's nothing covering my heels or ankles, but I wanted the ease of a slip-on that I could wear year-round. Since I only wear them indoors, I'm okay propping my feet up on the couch while wearing them, but I usually slip them off to get cozy under a blanket. I'm one of those people who don't like going barefoot, and prefer some support or cushioning on my feet. I used to buy "cheap" slippers with a foam sole that I'd replace every couple of years because the fuzzy fleece got matted down and the foam sole no longer felt cushy. Even though I've only had my Gerlups one season, I can tell these will not be "disposable' slippers that I have to replace regularly. I'm now keeping my eye on these as possible gifts for family members. I love them so much, I want to share the joy.
