Humans have been making shoes for hundreds of thousands of years. This is the greatest shoe ever made. This is the greatest shoe that I have ever worn and I should add that I am 49 years old and I have worn many shoes. This shoe is more comfortable than my tennis sneakers.I started wearing them around the house because they are more comfortable than my moccasins.I'm a waiter at a restaurant that requires me to have black shoes "that can be polished" along with black pants and a black dress shirt. Problem is that black shoes that can be polished are generally uncomfortable. I bought a pair of what seemed like decent black dress shoes of the Bruno Mars brand on Amazon for around $60. After a couple days of trying inserts, the mild chafing in the toebox gave rise over a few days of being on my feet all day into blisters. The shoes could be worn maybe for a couple hours at a time without pain but not all day.These loafers also look pretty nice with a dark denim and barefoot type look. Just a great looking loafer.I have a pair of Mephistos that I bought 26 years ago - they are the lace-up brown style dress shoes and they have served me well over the years. This is why I was willing to shell out $320 for the loafers. The Mephistors I bought 26 years ago are in excellent condition, no breakdown in the shoe at all after decades of wear and are extremely comfortable but this loafer is maybe a bit more comfortable as far as being snug like a slipper.Mephisto is a great company and it's a great concept to start first with the priority of comfort and adding the design second to the comfort.I can't say enough good things. They are not cheap but I also think they are not terribly overpriced. You can't put a price on lack of foot pain and comfort. Alright, I'm done.Greatest shoes ever made.

Due to some peripheral neuropathy I had a difficult time wearing dress shoes and have spent hundreds of dollars on shoes that the salespeople promised would be right for my issues, only to be donating them to charity because they made my feet numb. These Mephisto shoes fit wonderfully and feel as good on my feet as a walking shoe. They also look wonderful and can be worn with anything from a suit to jeans. Very good quality leather and the workmanship is first rate. It has been a great delight to be able to wear dress shoes at my office again, as I'm a senior executive...and while everyone understood my medical issues I always felt odd in those "mall walking" sneakers I had to wear so I could get around ok.

Style and comfort are found together in this long wearing, comfortable shoe. I discovered this model in 2009 and bought a brown pair and a black pair. My wife loves the styling and I love the fit. I wore them alternating, as my main footwear at work, for 4 years. I just replaced my black pair, and the upper on the brown pair was restitched by my right little toe a year ago, so it has new life, for another year or two. Casual or formal, this is a great everyday, everywhere shoe.

I have purchased these slippers for my husband several years ago. He has flat feet and needs special inserts. the inserts that come with these are are better than the orthotic ones!! He says that they are so comfortable, he can't believe it! I purchased these for him, for Christmas. The last time I bought them was from Nordstrom-he has purchased many Mephistoes there. I was able to get the slippers he loves-at a much reduced price-from amazon!!

Good shoes but run just a little small.

This shoe is very comfortable. I have a dozen pair of Mephisto and would not buy any other brand (Except for a weak moment and did a J&M with no regrets). This EDLEF shoe is great. If you remember it is not a hiking shoe this is a great relaxing shoe for day to day business casual use. The heel is somewhat rounded for an outstanding driving shoe.

I'm size 12, wide in American shoes. The "M" fits perfectly...just a tad snug across the width, but only for a few days. After that, pure comfort for years and years. These are dressy but comfortable. If your foot/arch needs a lot of support, others might be better. Otherwise, you can't go wrong here.

Very strange feeling. This is my third Mephisto pair of shoes and for the first time - subtle feeling of disappointment. Came to me not in the original box, without any documents. ( Previous times everything was alright ). Neither smell nor feeling of genuine leather, very much uncomfortable sole. Very tight to put on, but once on the foot - begins to dangle and slosh, very lose. Being very much disappointed and close to sending it back, decided to retain. Maybe I do not understand high quality product and just need a time to develop my taste and adjust my foot? Al lables are on places though.
