I'm on my fourth pair in 2.5 years. I walk a lot at work (6K-12K steps daily with an occasional 20K). This is on a concrete floor and occasionally a parking lot. I really like these boots: they are comfortable out of the box, are supportive at the ankle, and waterproof enough for me. I have not been on a serious hike (backpacking) with them, but have used them on my trail walks and they are great. Only "complaint" is that they do run small. I usually wear 8 to 8.5, depending on maker. I wear a 9 in this boot.
This is my second pair of these. I walk every day and wore my first pair out after years of use.
I love hiking and needed a winter boot. The color is hideous, but it is what it is. Plus, I'm sure pink would look this brown after a few hikes on my always tripping in the woods feet anyway. I love the ankle support. It's tight, but movable. I'm sure I won't go falling into any more ponds now. There's a little more space and hardness in the toe than expected. Now, when I forget to lift my feet and drag my toes into a rock or ragged tree root Hell bent on making me face-plant into the trail, I don't feel much other than my hurt pride. Which reminds me, there's less scuff damage than I would expect on the hiking shoes of one as clumsy as me, so they're pretty durable too. And warm, they are definitely very warm boots. They're just ugly, but a bargain price.
So, i bought these mega cheap ($18) with very little for expectations.Size: I usually wear a 7.5 wide. I bought an 8.5 and probably should have bought a 9. They're ok, but no room at all in the toe.Width: they're actually REALLY wide. I have a fairly wide foot and these are wider than most wide shoes. I did not order wide.Insoles: are total crap. Like flat piece of cardboard crap. Absolutely 0 support or padding. Worse than wearing a pair of flat flip flops. However, the width is such that I can place a GOOD insole inside. For the $18 I spent on these it's still cheap to spend money on an insole in them. Plus I can choose an insole appropriate for my specific feet. So, while it would be a deal breaker if I had paid good money for these, it's actually a BIG positive at the $18 I paid for them.Laces: they are SHORT. They need a good 2 to 4 inch longer lace.Soles: if you roll to the inside of the foot. These might be great for you. The first thing I noticed was that they seem to slightly lift the inside ball of my foot. For me that means I will be watching for how they wear on the outer foot seeing how my feet tend to roll to the outside.Comfort: I wore them to work in the greenhouse today for the first time with the crap insoles and they were actually pretty comfortable. Better than I expected when I put them on and felt the insole. I only worked about 4 hours, so the risk of being miserable was low and I was pleasantly surprised.Waterproof: the jury is still out. I wasn't watering plants today. So, I will have to update on that later.Construction: so far they appear pretty well put together. They look nice and don't feel like $18 shoes. Appear on par with much better brands. They definitely aren't Northface, comumbia or even HI Tec. But they look good and are comfortable. I am happy with them for work even if they only hold up for a few months. We will see how they hold up to working in the greenhouse. I tend to destroy shoes fast out there. Even at a bit higher price they'd be a good choice.I'll update after a season of work!
I have the brown and the black now. I bought a pair a few years ago and have worn them out hiking, yard working, playing in the snow, and wearing to work. I still use them for yardwork, but got the other new ones because they ate so awesome.
These shoes are really comfortable for outdoor activities. I hike often, and I wanted to get a nice pair of hiking boots for my hikes! They are durable, have a great sole for gripping on different surfaces, and they are waterproof. I think these will last for years! These run a little big, like .5 size too big, so you may want to order a little smaller, but it may just be the way my feet are, too!
I thought these would be a good pair of hiking boots that I’d be able to wear on weekly hikes. However, after the first three hikes wearing them, my feet continue to get blisters. I even got a half size bigger, so I’m just not sure what the deal is.
I wear these almost everyday. Very comfortable, sturdy. Like the ease of putting on and off. My daughter was going to return hers because they were tight for her but i kept them.
