I have been wearing Rockport shoes for 7 years. They are very light, comfortable with back support. When you wear Rockport shoes, your spine will automatically be straight; at least you are somehow feeling that you are standing straight and tall. They help me to reduce my backpains. They also offer a firm grip. They certainly have the technology. The only issue I have is that sometimes the sizes are not consistent and you cannot buy them in stores now. I believe they no longer have any retail outlets.Highly recommend this brand.
The shoes are comfortable and fit my feet well. I'll put them to good use.
This shoe replaced a much more expensive shoe, and I'm very happy with the value given what I paid. Rockport has long had a good reputation as a solid "commuter shoe" option, and this loafer holds up in that regard. I needed these for a multi day conference where I was on my feet all day for multiple days in a row, but despite having zero break-in period, these felt very comfortable throughout the event. They're also a very nice-looking shoe, even more so than some of the plastic-looking pricier options out there.Don't expect lifetime quality, of course. The sole is glued on, so that will start to come apart sooner than I'm sure I would like, and the insole starting peeling apart inside the shoe after just the first or second day of wear. That's not a deal-breaker since I typically replace my insoles anyway, but expect to have a slightly annoying "bunched up" feeling under your feet very quickly as the top layer of fabric from the insole peels off right away.Size might run a bit large, but pretty close to "as expected." I had a small amount of heel slippage ordering my normal shoe size, but it wasn't really noticeable after a day or so. This also isn't an issue at all if you plan to wear the shoe with socks, which I think the sizing assumes. So if you're an in-between size, maybe consider going down a half-size if you don't plan on wearing socks with this (and it's comfortable enough that you don't need to), but stick to your regular size if you do want to wear them with socks.Great for someone who doesn't want to spend more than $100, is comfortable replacing the insole right away, and wants a nice-looking, but still fairly casual and comfortable loafer option that can be worn right out of the box.
Leather is nice and soft. Sole is soft. I always like Rockport. Except it is a bit big for me which is my fault. I usually wear size 6
Comparison of four shoes: I tried on the indicated sizes of the four shoes listed below – I had them all at home and compared them extensively. All four shoes were pleasant surprises in that I liked all of them very much and the first three were very inexpensive. The main differences in these black loafer-style shoes are small differences in style and fit. The Geox and “Bike” slip-on had defined heels, giving a somewhat dressier appearance; the others had molded soles/heels. The SAS shoe had a leather band across the front (where a penny loafer would have the penny band). One thing that I can’t comment on is how they will fit after a couple of months of use, but I suspect they will remain good. I confess that I kept one of each shoe – I expect that one or two of them will turn out to fit particularly well but can’t predict which those will be.1. Rockport Men's Palmer Venetian Loafer 12W, 13MComments. Loved these shoes. There is a small amount of elastic at the joint between the top and side of the shoe. Leather and fit very nice. Runs a bit big: I usually am 13M but that was too big and 12W fit. Excellent value. Comes in M and W but not 12.5.2. Rockport Men's Style Leader 2 Bike Slip-On 12W 13MComments: Loved these shoes. Fit and leather similar to the Palmer Loafer except the shoe is higher. As with the Palmer, 13M was too big and 12W fit. These have a longer toe box3. Geox Men's New Damon 2 Plain Vamp Loafer 12.5, 13Comments: Loved these shoes. 12.5 and 13 were available but not W width. Mainly true to size – maybe slightly on the large size. The toe was flatter with more room than in the other three shoes. 12.5 was slightly too tight, so had to go with 13.4. SAS Men’s Ace slip on loafer13M, 13Narrow, 12.5W, 12.5M.Comments: I got these directly from the SAS company in New Orleans, but they also are on Amazon. SAS was fast and very helpful – I tried two sizes in one shipment and sent them back for two more sizes which were shipped immediately in exchange even before the first two were received back at the company. Because in the end I kept one size, all postage both ways (through the USPS) was free. I also love these shoes. They are a somewhat closer fit, but seem to fit very well. This particular style is somewhat more casual. There is more arch support and ventilation holes on the inner side.
So I deliberately ordered the wrong size again, because honestly, even when they're slightly too large, these shoes are extremely comfortable. They're not like walking on clouds or pillows or anything like that, but they are comfortable enough that they don't create any issues, and even when they're too large, they don't rub. They were stiff when they first arrived, but it took about 4 or 5 steps before they started to flex up a bit and now they're decently handling my walking. I'm a bit rough on my shoes, because of my gait, my last pair only lasted about 2 years, but I feel like these will last just as long. For a normal person, they will probably last longer.EDIT: so with the start of the rainy season, a problem has shown itself. A problem that wasn't there on the last pair of rockports I bought. The problem in this case? There is no weather ceiling. At all. Water will intrude into the shoe through the edge of the sole, they made no effort to seal that seam at all. And again, this problem did not exist in the last pair I bought.Additionally, the insert is breaking down significantly more quickly than the last pair's did. The top layer of the insert has already started detaching itself in one of the shoes. All of this points to a serious issue of quality.
