Sizing is always tough on the internet and shoes typically vary so much anyways, buying online is doubly hard. Since these are boat shoes, fit is particularly important. I have never owned Sebagos before so I had to guess what my size would be. Typically I'm 11.5 so that's what I ordered and as I said they are a little big. However I'm not sure an 11 would fit, tough call. Next time I would order both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit as well.Other than the minor size issue, these are fantastic shoes. The quality is very high overall, the leather is soft but durable and the sole is actually nonslip. While I think you could walk all day in these, I have stood all day in them and that was not a good idea. It seems like almost the same thing but it's not. I don't blame the shoes though, they're made for moving around a lot, not standing in place. I have worn these almost everyday for a month now and the shoes look brand new and except for that one day, they've been very comfortable. The look is formal enough for work but also casual enough for everyday wear. Love them and recommend them!
Really big fan of these shoes. Compared to sneakers, they fit a bit large, so be aware of that. Aside from the fact that they're affordable and stylish, I like that they're versatile and durable. I have no qualms about getting these wet or dirty, yet they have a semi-formal feel, making them viable for a variety of situations. As some have mentioned, they do tend to be a bit squeaky (especially at first), but it's really not loud enough to be an issue. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you're wearing them without socks, you may develop blisters depending on their fit and how long you're walking. In which case, you're probably better off wearing sneakers anyway, and in a pinch you can always apply some moleskin.Final verdict: If you want a stylish, comfortable, affordable quality shoe, buy these. I know I plan to get a couple more colors over the next couple of years.
I've been a long-time Sperry Topsider wearer. When I purchased my first pair 1977, they were made in New England and the quality was fantastic. Now they are made in China; it seems to me that the quality has gone down, while the price has gone up.I decided to give Sebagos a try, so I ordered a pair of Sebago Spinnakers last spring. They were stiff at first, but quickly became comfortable, and the "W" width was wide enough for my feet. They have become my favorite casual shoe this summer. My old brown Sperry Topsiders needed replacing, so I ordered these Sebago Docksides instead, and in the same size/width as the Spinnakers. I was disappointed at first, because they seemed slightly tighter and less comfortable than the Spinnakers. I was almost ready to send them back, but decided to wear them a few hours a day inside the house. Within a few days, they began to "loosen up" and become more comfortable and are now a "keeper." I deducted one star because I still think that they are slightly narrow, in spite of being labeled as "Wide." Why do so many shoe manufacturers insist on making narrow Wide shoes? Probably to save on leather and costs. The quality and workmanship is superior to Sperry, in my opinion. The leather is much thicker and has a uniform smooth finish - no weird wavy spots or ripples in the leather like on my last pair of Sperrys. The stitching is also straight and even. The sole is slightly thicker, and a little firmer than Sperrys. They're not made in USA, but at least in the Western Hemisphere - the Dominican Republic - not China.
I have been a Sperry man for some time now, admittedly because it was all I knew. I came across these on significant discount and couldn't say no. I have been blown away by the quality of leather and the shoe construction. I am a size 13 in pretty much every shoe manufacturer out there. I have a standard width foot as well. I hate wearing socks and one of the things I have found, and assume to be related to the quality of leather, is that these shoes still smell brand new (I have been wearing them for about 6 months). From a style perspective I love the versatility. I wear them with anything. They are my day to day work shoes, but they go with shorts too. I also hate lacing shoes up so I gravitate to slip on shoes. However, having the laces allows you to take up any stretch that may happen over time. The leather laces do not untie themselves either, which is nice. My only complaint is that they are out of other colors that I like in my size. To compare them with some Sperry's, I think these must be compareable to the Gold Cup Sperry's, but I got them for significantly less. I have the regular $100 Sperry's and they are great, the leather is just different, almost too soft and not as rugged, on the Sperry's. If I am not mistaken the Sebago's are a Horween Leather, which is very good quality.I am extremely impressed with these shoes!
