Ordered these boots since they come in wide sizes, as I have bunions few boots fit right and tend to become highly uncomfortable quickly. I work in security/LE so wearing boots for work for long periods of time outdoors and in various environments. I don't usually review items, but when I finally needed a new pair, its only then I realized its been 2 1/2 years with these working just right and holding up.They have been comfortable, snug but not too tight, easy to adjust and slip on off daily and held up through quite a bit of abuse. In fact I'd consider them the Goldilocks of boots for my personal foot size/shape, which has been extremely rare. The shoelaces were a bit flimsy and snapped after a couple of years but thats an easy fix, and the final nail in the coffin for one boot was stomping on a fire to put it out and it burnt the stiches that hold the sole in, so I'd blame the user on that more. Other then that the boots themselves are still in very good condition, and its now only a shame they don't carry my size in wide currently or anymore.
I NEVER purchase shoes online unless I've been to a bricks and mortar store first to try them on. Over the years my foot seems to have grown from a 10.5 to up to between an 11.5 and a 12.5 depending on the shoe. I've also found that no matter what size I get that my foot tends to feel squeezed and ends up getting calluses. However, in this case I took a chance and ordered 11.5 but in a wide. Admittedly, they are too wide for my foot, but I know a regular 11.5 would have been to tight and if I had ordered a 12 then it would have been too long giving me a clown shoe look. Even though they are a little to wide, I find these boots to be very comfortable. I have plenty of room for my toes and the sides of my foot. There will be no chance of my developing more calluses with these boots in the size I chose and, after wearing them daily for several weeks, there is no hint of discomfort or rubbing that might cause blisters. This is a solid boot at a pretty good price. I might just purchase a second pair as backup now that I know I like the fit.
These are pretty decent boots - especially for $70. The soles are pretty heavy duty but the boots wear light. The toe box is generous and they managed to give a snug fit without pinching or binding. A good amount of ankle support. The zippers are the ykk type and make getting in and out a little easier. I never cared for zippers on boots when I was in the Army and I am not sure if I am going to use these a lot either. The treads aren't ridiculously aggressive but held up to a variety of situations - from the classroom to the fields. I did a bit of puddle stomping and my feet stayed dry. Did I wade through rivers and streams? Nope. I'll update when I have to shovel the insane amount of snow I expect to see this winter. The insoles are nothing to write home about - I grabbed my green wide super feet insoles and they made a huge difference. The boot are pretty nice looking. They kept my feet dry and comfortable. They provided me with traction when I needed it. They look nice. To be absolutely candid, they were nicer boots than I expected for the price...I've paid more for footwear that was nowhere as nice as these.Update - I have grown to love the zippers. Still haven't had a chance to see how good they are in really mucky weather, but they have kept my feet dry so far.
1st: I love these boots. They are made well & fit well. Easy to break in. I like the idea that some $ of sales goes to Operation First Response who has a 94+% rating with about 6% admin/overhead cost. Everything came out right in the end, but it was a royal headache to get the boots. The first pair was defective and came with the top of the zipper sewn together under the velcro tab. The zipper worked fine, but underneath was sewn together. The 2nd pair is fine. A replacement was finally arranged but not without 2 hrs and 15 minutes on the phone. I first purchased the boots with a $60 Visa gift card from a Discount Tire purchase. I called Amazon customer service. I knew I needed help with the $9.99 balance. In order to complete the purchase I could not use my bank debit card or credit card which is on file with Amazon. I had to use my debit card to purchase an Amazon gift card to myself and then apply the $9.99 balance. This policy makes not sense. I asked why could I not just use my debit or credit card for the balance. Policy and/or system will not let you split pay with 2 visa cards, debit, credit or gift. You have to purchase an Amazon card. Purchasing the 1st pair took 2 phone calls and about 2 hours. I received an email that boots would come same day. They did not. I called Amazon, got the Philippines, a representative that could not understand and I went to a supervisor. Issue was finally resolved and I got the boots 2 days later. When 1st pair was defective, at first, Amazon would not exchange or gift credit. Amazon wanted to put it back on gift cards, which I did not know if that would work and probably take 3-5 days. After 2 HRS 15 MINUTES AMAZON FINALLY SENT RETURN LABEL AND PUT A CREDIT ON MY ACCOUNT FOR $69.00, BUT NOT WITHOUT GOING THROUGH 3-4 SUPERVISORS. ONE SUPERVISOR JUST BLEW ME OFF BY SAYING IT WOULD BE LIKELY THAT THE NEXT PAIR WOULD BE DEFECT TOO. I ASKED IF AMAZON MADE IT A PRACTICE TO SELL PRODUCTS THAT THEY KNOW HAD A LIKELIHOOD OF BEING DEFECTIVE. THAT SUPERVISOR WAS A JERK. Last supervisor, KELLY E IN ATLANTA WAS GREAT AND FINALLY STREAMLINED THE WHOLE MESS. Joy A in Atlanta was great and I was give a $25 credit for the headaches. THANK YOU JOY A. AND KELLY E. in Atlanta. I would recommend the boots and contributions to Operation First Response. Just make the purchase as simple as possible.
These boots are fantastic! They look great and they feel great. I am on my feet 8+ hours a day and walk an average of over 10 miles in those 8 hours (health care). The first night I was afraid I would have blisters, but they broke in after an hour and feel wonderful. I am not easy on footwear but these are holding up very well and after 3 weeks of Wisconsin winter (snow, slat, water, sand) they look brand new. Very pleased and definitely recommend!
This boot is like hiking in your bedroom slippers. It is so comfortable and yet still has plenty of ankle and arch support for some of those more treacherous climbs. I will definitely purchase again.
