I've had several pairs of Green Tongue Timberlands over the years, so I had high expectations for these boots. The military introduced me to the value of gortex. Squish the two together and you get almost what you would expect. These have a slightly different feel than the Green Tongues that I can't necessarily attribute to the Goretex, but they're very close. The Goretex does its job and keeps your feet dry. There's a small break in period, but I would and probably will buy these boots again. One odd thing I've noticed with these boots is if I take off running, the boot has a weird hugging effect that feels like pockets of air not breathing and shifting around in the boot. These are slightly warmer than your regular green tongues, but they are waterproof so you should expect that. I think they're good in most temperatures, probably above 75 degrees you'll want to switch to something that isn't waterproof but has drainage holes for water if you will be encountering any.UPDATE: I've now broken these boots in and they continue to wear well. I would say that unless you're definitely in an environment where you need waterproofing, you'll want to go with your other boots. Gortex is a "breathable" material, but it's like breathing with a cloth over your mouth. They tend to run hot, but they are otherwise comfortable.
Great Shoes!Very Comfortable and did not take long to break in.I'm a big man 6'-6" with big feet and always have trouble finding hiking/walking boots that are comfortable and fit my feet (15D). I've been wearing these for a couple of months just about every day and so far they are wonderful.
Was looking for a good light hiking and general all around wear outdoor boot. Shopped locally to find what I wanted in style and size then went to Amazon for a price comparison. Found them a net $20 less than the lowest price in my city. Boots arrived quickly and just as promised. Timberland makes a good quality shoe. The Sizes seem to run true and this boot has a nice wide footbed so that at the end of a long day when your feet have swollen a bit, your feet don't feel like they are being squeezed. Support seems good and they are just comfortable to wear. The added plus is they are water proof so if you don't get in over the top of the shoe you are good to go.
I never buy explicitly wide shoes, but I've got the fairly common wide forefoot and narrow heel, and my overall foot is lean and not bulky. Shoes get laced pretty tightly. These boots initially were surprisingly narrow, enough to worry me a little. After some break-in, they fit fine and I'm very happy with them. I can see why others complain the laces are short, but they're a proper length for me (I frequently find laces excessively long). I'm happy with them. However, if you have feet that you wouldn't describe as narrow or bony, you likely would be happier with a wide width.
I took these boots out of the box put them on and have been wearing them every day since. They are lightweight and comfortable. No breakin required. I do light construction work... they are great outdoors in dry, wet, cold, or warm conditions.
First of all, I’ve had my old pair of Timberland boots for almost 11 years. Noticed a couple of weeks back that I was wearing through the bottom of the tread, so time for new boots. In comes this lame excuse for a pair of “boots”.First problem, the laces are too short.- seriously, what kind of chicken leg were they making these boots for??Second, the tongue of the boot doesn’t go past your ankle, so why even bother advertising that there’s gortex material in these boots? The material’s worthless, if my feet can still get wet...that’s half the reason I bought boots in the first place, to keep my feet dry.Third, socks. These boots don’t work well with any sock that rides below the brim of the top of the boot. Your socks will be pushed to the front of the boot - enjoy those blisters.Literally the ONLY reason I am keeping these boots, is so that I know never to buy them again!Seriously, there’s only one “pro” - ankle support. But the ankle support isn’t even worth putting up with the rest.
THESE BOOTS ARE WELL MADE,THEY RUN TRUE TO SIZE.THEY ARE LIGHT SO YOU CAN HIKE FOR AWHILE WITHOUT THEM WEARNG OUT YOUR LEGS.MY HUSBAND REALLY LIKES THEM AND WE GOT THEM FOR A GOOD PRICE,FIFTY SOMETHING DOLLARS.
I purchased these for my son. When he put only one shoe on, he said how comfortable they felt. He even called me two days later thanking me again. I'm happy when he's 😊
