We had such a hard time finding good shoes for our baby to learn how to walk. Even though all the books say that your baby can learn best when she is barefoot and that therefore any baby shoes should be really soft, so many of them have these hard rubber soles that just look like shoes for bigger kids in small. And if they don't have a terribly hard sole they have a slippery leather sole in which the babies can't even stand up properly and safely. Therefore, I was really happy when a colleague of mine recommended pediped. Actually, he told me that those were the only shoes to be taken into consideration for babies. I was impressed - he does not usually get that passionate about baby gear - but now I really understand his enthusiasm. These shoes are absolutely perfect - they have a non-slippery, super soft leather sole, they fit perfectly (my 10-months old wears the 12-18 months comfortably but she has huge feet), they are easy to get on for us and hard to pull off for the baby and they look absolutely adorable. These brown ones pretty much match all the clothes we have. We might get a second pair of pediped sandals as the weather gets hotter but for now this is really all we need for shoes.
I enjoyed the shoes we purchased for our little girl. She is almost 14 months, and the 12-18 month shoes fit her perfectly (almost too perfectly!). She is 25-35th percentile in weight and height, so as a few others have mentioned on this site, I would recommend getting the next size up if you child is normal sized or on the larger size within this age group. The shoes were so wonderful, I also purchased the 18-24 months, and it looks like it'll work just as well! I appreciate how easy it is to place the shoes on her, and they are soft and flexible - a cute shoe that is also comfortable!I guess my only qualm is the new scent. All shoes would have a "new" scent to them, though while she has worn them out for a few weeks, the scent still lingers on her feet. Even so, I would recommend this shoe to everyone looking for something that is as equally easy to put on and adorable!
My husband is a pediatrician and is a firm believer that kids need soft sole shoes (or no shoes at all) up until they are at least 2 years old. Our daughter has just begun walking and these are wonderful!- Soft soled but not so flimsy that she trips- Rubber grips on the bottom so she doesn't slip- Pediped's are endorsed by the APMA- Pretty true to size --if anything, barely on the small side, but I order a size up anyway since babies grow so fast.- They match everything and they are so cute... this part is just my opinion :)Robeez are great shoes too (and also approved by APMA) but they are a little more flimsy, don't always have the grips on the bottom and (in my opinion) not as cute of a design.
I bought these for my six month old, and they are perfect. She's not walking yet, but these stay on her feet really well, and there is a decent amount of room to grow. She of course loves any shoes because they are something else she can put in her mouth, but the quality is high on these so I know these shoes can handle my little teether.EDIT: Now, my little girl is cruising and crawling (7.5 months) and these shoes have been perfect for the transition. She'll be wearing these for a long while. I can't believe I ever wondered if they were worth the price tag, they definitely are.
This is my first time trying Pediped shoes for my daughter. I've heard such great things about them so I figured I'd get her some play/holiday shoes. I was pleasantly surprised at the color...more of a lovely crimson red and shiny like nail polish rather than overly-shiny patent leather so these will definitely go with more everyday outfits rather than just a one-time holiday dress (which these would easily be appropriate for if that's what you want).I was also surprised at how light they are, almost disappointed. Obviously you want your baby in lightweight shoes so they aren't klop-klopping everywhere trying to walk properly, but I'm not sure these will hold up past a couple of months. The sole is pretty good, though...the usual sole I have seen on most Pedipeds. We'll see if these can handle a few months of wear and tear.As far as fit, my 14-month old is tiny and has a 4" foot. The 6-12 month size fits her perfectly with room to grow.If you get these on sale (I got them for $20) I'd recommend them for sure, but not sure I'd pay the full price. I'm partial to Clarks for that price range. ($25-45)
I bought these exact shoes for both my daughters. After trying different brands and styles, these have been the best shoes for my kids. They are cute and very flexible for little feet. Other shoes made my daughter trip due to thick soles and even blister the back of her foot. No blisters and lots of comfort. They are a little more than some other shoes, but in the long run it pays off because it goes with everything so I don't have to buy several different shoes, trying to find one that fits or goes with different outfits.
These were recommended by the pediatrician and so I looked for them purposefully. My granddaughter is tiny and is walking in a Size 2 - most size 2 shoes are crib shoes, not designed for function. The first time I put them on her, she stopped walking on her toes. She also started pulling up and "cruising" the furniture. I am thrilled with the fit, comfort, durability, craftsmanship and style. The foot can spread out for balance, the toes aren't cramped and the shoe is made entirely of leather, so It's durable. I will keep her in Pedipeds!!
My husband and I wished we knew about Pedipeds for our first born. We got this specific shoe in red and it is so adorable! They stay on our daughter's feet and she just loves being in her jumparoo with these on and they stay on! They do run a bit big, so at 5 months she wore the Xsmall. Now at 6 months, we moved her up to the small and we bought the exact same shoe! This is a great buy---was not thrilled about the price at first but well worth it!
