ECCO, a Danish footwear brand founded in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy, began with a simple yet revolutionary idea: creating comfortable shoes that mimicked the barefoot walking experience. Toosbuy believed that shoes shouldn't restrict the natural movement of the foot, and ECCO's commitment to ergonomic design has been at the heart of the brand ever since.
ECCO prioritizes both comfort and style. They utilize innovative technologies and premium materials to create shoes that are anatomically shaped, lightweight, and flexible. ECCO also boasts a keen eye for design, offering a range of styles that are both functional and fashion-forward.
Between me and my husband, we’ve easily purchased this shoe, in several colors, at least 10 times! It’s made with Gortex so it’s stain and water resistant, and each pair lasts for many years. Just use a med/soft shoe brush or toothbrush to occasionally clean them. I bought a “nubuck cleaning kit” that has a brush and an “eraser”, and it works like a charm! The style is a classic, and can worn with so many different things. Can be fairly dressy like with slacks and a sport coat, or super casual. They’re probably the most versatile and certainly some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.Sadly, (and I hope I’m wrong!) the last time I tried to purchase a new pair, I had an extremely difficult time finding them. After searching Amazon, I went to us.ecco.com and couldn’t find them there either. I wrote ecco and was told the shoes were being disconnected! I periodically watched Amazon and found a couple of pairs. I got them on Amazon US but they shipped from the UK at nearly $200 per pair. Even at that price I was happy to find them, and bought them immediately! If you love these shoes, write or call ecco and ask for them to be brought back!
This is Simple Comfort At its Best. I like the look of these shoes, because they express both a formal and Casual Style because of its Roebuck finish. It does not offer great support, let's say for hiking, but I already have Ecco Hiking Shoes for that. This works for it's own purpose.
I had to play with the sizing because it isn’t the normal US sizing, but after finding the size that fit they are really comfortable and great shoes. They do show scuffs easily, however. But for a more dressy everyday show they are nice.
These are my second pair of Ecco GTX turn shoes. After discovering Ecco shoes, I am now a loyal customer to the brand. They are very high quality as I have never had one "fail". I have had soles split and seams rip on other brands, but my Ecco shoes have been very robust after years of use. These are my daily work shoes and go great with almost any business casual dress. I work in an office/manufacturing environment requiring a significant amount of walking on concrete floors on some days. My feet have never had any issues with comfort in any of my Ecco shoes, these included. I am very happy that Ecco incorporated Gore-Tex waterproofing into these. It is hard to find a pair of shoes with Gore-Tex that does not make you look like you should be on the Appalachian Trail instead of inside the office. I wear ordinary Gold Toe socks and never had a problem with the Gore-Tex keeping in moisture (sweat) so I would say there is no downside to the GTX feature. They clean up easily if they get muddy, but generally look quite clean always unless you are walking around a construction site. The arch support is fine for my feet with a higher than average arch. I have never felt the need to replace the standard inserts. This black pair has been getting three or four days of use weekly for about 6 months. I expect them to last at least three years without showing any major wear and hope Ecco keeps making this model.
Great shoe - used it to travel around UK/Ireland to avoid those days of trying to dry non-waterproof shoes. Fits a mm or so slightly smaller in width than my other Ecco's, but has loosed slightly with wear. The next size up would probably feel too loose on me. Otherwise, very comfortable, great as an all purpose travel shoe.
I found these run a bit small for american sizes. I fit in an 11 better and I'm a 10-1/2 normally. I kept them anyway and I wear moleskin on the back of my ankles to keep from getting blisters. There is an extra leather back loop that can be irritating. They are starting to loosen up and break in. I've worn Ecos before and they are well made and last a long time, even when you beat on them, so despite the high price, I feel they are worth it. I like the styling as well!
Love the shoe. It was the only shoe I took with me on a recent trip to England. It was perfect for hiking and could pass for something a little dressy if need be. It feels comfortable, breathes well, And above all waterproof. I will probably buy a brown pair now. I have other ECCO shoes and the advice to buy a little larger than usual is correct for this shoe.
These shoes are comfortable out of the box need no breaking in. I usually were Ecco size 40 but ordered a 41 because reviews indicated that they run small. While just a little bit roomer than normal they fit fine. The shoe is very solidly built., and being from Seattle the Gore -tex waterproof feature is a real bonus. I replaced my the Merrill Realm with these and found the ECCO a better value and more comfortable, although a bit heavier. .
