I had a pair of these 60 years ago; best shoes I ever owned. These brand new Florsheim Imperials bring me back to my younger days with confidence in my footwear. I love how they look feel, and sound.
This is a great shoe that makes you feel good and comfortableThe leather used to manufacture it shows at the very first glance its quality and smoothness. I have the full set of colours and I am very happy . Even when my real size is a half size smaller the architecture if the design permits me feel perfectly.
Very high quality formal dress shoes made by Florsheim. I like its style, color and workmanship. Besides, it is very comfortable to wear them.
The color is sprayed on not vat dyed. When you touch ANY thing the finish comes off.
I had ordered these shoes from a different purveyor in my "normal size" - 10, but felt they were too large. Would recommend going down 1/2 a size from your regular. I have a medium width. Since these (super cool) shoes are a bit of an investment and will likely last a long, long time - just an FYI on the size thing.
I'm giving this three stars for value, assuming you're buying on sale for well under $200. These are NOT your father's Florsheim longwings. I know because I still have two pair (Shell and calf) from back when the Imperial line from Florsheim could stand with anything in the world. What these shoes are is a lower quality facsimile of the originals. Goodyear welted, full grain leather, nice and heavy -- at first you feel encouraged. But the lower-grade leather just doesn't wear in like the higher-grade Horween stuff that Florsheim used to use in their US factories. The outside and lining and insole leather is cheaper grade, and more heavily processed than the good leather of yore. Hence, it never really develops the "made just for me" quality of good old Kenmoors from the Imperial line. It doesn't breathe well, either. This is a price point shoe. Florsheim isn't competing with Allen Edmonds, much less Alden. They are staking out ground in this price range of $200-ish, while the much better AE Macneil or the much much (add a few much-s) better Aldens cost $375 and $500+ respectively. Real Florsheim Imperial Kenmoors -- if the company cared to make them again -- would also sell for $350+. So, you get what you pay for. These aren't bad shoes for the money, just buy them on sale. After all, AEs on sale get down into the $200s.
This the 2nd pair I've purchased. The other pair is black. This shoe will last for years fits well, has a smooth leather sole, which is great for dancing.
