I am a BARISTA, and I am on my feet for most of the day. Not only that, but I have lower back problems.Let me start out by saying that it's hard for me to find durable, good-quality shoes that are non-slip (and don't look too clunky or masculine). I want a shoe that works as hard as I do, but I still want them to look good!I have the KEEN Women's Newport H2 Sandal, and I loved them for camping and hiking, so I decided to give Keen's work shoe a try.THESE SHOES ARE AMAZING. If you are on your feet for work most of the day (or you are a barista that wants to look professional, but also wants to be comfortable), try these on.A few days after I wore these, my back-aches after work were almost gone. I also didn't slip around as much (thanks the slip-resistant treads), and I felt comfortable standing hours at a time. They give minimal support in the arches (but not too much) and they wear well. However, I would advise GOING UP A SIZE AND A HALF. I am usually a size 9.5 women's shoe, and I had to go to a size 10.5.They also take a day or two to break in, so don't be alarmed if they feel a little "tight" when you first put them on.I am on my second pair, and I am going to keep buying them because nothing else has worked.
I work in a restaurant, 50+ hours a week, and spend a lot of time on my feet. I am required to wear black slip resistant shoes, and it is hard to find quality AND comfort. These shoes offer both. When I tried them on for the first time, I was a little discouraged because they felt tight. Then I realized I literally JUST got home from spending 10 full hours on my feet and they were a bit swollen. I put them on again the next day and they felt great. They had wonderful heel support which I am not used to, and extra cushion in the arches. The soles are wide and very slip resistant. More so than most others I have tried. I had a day off of before I got to wear these to work so I wore them out to lunch to break them in. They looked adorable with my jeans and I am actually considering buying a second pair. If not for that, to have a backup for work. As I said, quality and comfort are hard to find. In all black slip resistant shoes.
It's actually a great looking basic black shoe, seems well made. But seriously, I love KEEN shoes, I'm on my 4th or 5th pair of Targhee Shoes, but these were like 1/3 smaller, no room for socks!!Oh, well. Returning and searching for black shoes.
I bought these on sale for less than $90. I was really surprised, there was no real "break in" period with these shoes. They are stiff, yes. It almost felt like they were on the wrong foot at first but once tied and standing, they were fine. I am no longer in food service but I am still standing and walking 10 hrs a day. The insole is not soft or cushiony and there is very little arch support. I have ordered heel cushions and there is room for arch support if I wish. My feet don't hurt but the heel cushions will make things a bit more comfortable. The skid resistance is a blessing since I am constantly back and forth from concrete to ceramic tile, wet to dry inside & outside. Being confident that I will not slip and fall makes the whole day better. I have only had these a couple weeks. If things change, I will edit this review.
I have worn my shoes now for over a month. I tried to see if they just need broken in. That is definitely not the case. They are horrible shoes. It's really sad because 5 years ago, these shoes were top of the line.I even tried a pair on at the shoe store to see if it was just the shoes I purchased. Not the case, they are all fitting very strange now and very uncomfortable.
if you work in a restaurant then you know how fast shoes fall apart, how important having nonslip soles that actually work are and everything else that kitchen shoes say they offer and often don't. these have been the most comfortable and the best quality work shoes I've ever owned. I've been wearing them for over a year and there are no rips, no separation along the sole and they are still comfortable to wear. common knowledge states that kitchen shoes need to be replaced every 6 months. these have lasted twice that time and are still going strong. I absolutely recommend purchasing these shoes if you work in a professional kitchen.
Keen must have changed their shoes somehow. I have purchased previous pairs of these shoes and been very happy with the comfort level. This time however was a very different experience. The foot bed itself feels like they put a board in for cushioning and they are very tight. I would say that that keens are no longer worth the money. Back to the drawing board for comfortable work shoes
I work 12 hour shifts in a correctional institution kitchen. These shoes stand up to wet, slippery concrete floors. The toe box is wide and the shoe offers just enough support to get me through the day without tired, achy feet. I buy these shoes annually. I'm able to wear them right out of the box with no break in time. They polish up nicely and look professional. I can't think of a negative thing to say about this product.
