I'm not quite sure if these shoes run too small or too large to be honest. I ordered an 8.5 wide that was a good bit roomier than I needed (and also made my foot look big, but I supposed I can't be picky when it comes to steel toes). When I scooted my feet all the way to the front, I had close to 1/4" of space at the heel. The measured interior foot length was 9.75" (~24.7 cm). However, when I ordered an 8 wide, they were far to small. And since they are such stiff shoes, it was even more uncomfortable than your average too-small shoe. The 8 measured 9.25" (~23.5 cm). The size chart lists 8.5 as 25.5 cm and 8 as 25 cm. Overall, the 8 was much smaller than I expected for how roomy the 8.5 was on me. I normally snugly fit a Nike running shoe size 8.5 (no room to spare at all, but it's not too tight by any means). All that said, I am keeping the 8.5, because they really are pretty comfortable and cute-ish. And, having the extra room makes it easier to slip on and off without untying them. It also leaves some room for inserts if I think I need them after wearing them for extended periods of time (I usually wear inserts in most of my shoes). Several reviewers also mentioned the back being extremely stiff. This is definitely true, and perhaps something the extra size also helps with, as I don't really feel my heel uncomfortably against it. I also appreciate that the shoes are high-cut enough that you can wear normal socks with skinny jeans (instead of no-show socks) without it looking too dorky. You can still see the socks, but it's not a bad look.*UPDATE* I ended up ordering a pair of 8.5 regular (not wide) just to see what they were like. In terms of fit, that made the difference for me. I don't have particularly wide or narrow feet (I typically wear regular width but occasionally wear wide depending on the shoe), but I had ordered wide based on other reviewers' recommendation. The length is the exact same, but I think since the toe box isn't quite as wide, my feet just can't slide quite as far forward, so the fit feels more like what I would expect with an 8.5. Both would have worked for me, but I find the regular width more comfortable. Updated my rating to 5 star since I was able to get a more comfortable fit.
I have always been a 7.5 in women's shoes for my entire adult life, so I ordered that size. They were too small. I immediately submitted to return them (the process was hassle-free) and ordered a size 8, and now they fit perfectly. They are very comfortable. I haven't experienced any harsh rubbing points inside or on the edges where the shoes are in contact with my ankles. The arch support is very noticeable as soon as I put on the shoes. I ordered the navy and tan pair, and they are true to those colors. The laces are quite long, but that's not a big deal for me. I really like that you can get safety out of a shoe that doesn't have to look so manly. I'm glad cute steel toe shoes are now being made. I'm super happy with these. :)
The insoles do not feel very comfortable. The leather is so stiff it digs into your ankles while walking and climbing stairs. Wore one day and got a massive cramp in my ankle. Overpriced as well.
Love the look of this steel toe shoe. I get compliments all the time and people can’t believe they are steel toes. I used reviews to suggest my shoe size... I wear a seven so I ordered a seven wide. The width is great. But, these shoes require a definite break in period! Wear thick socks. The back of the shoes hurts and will cause blisters if you wear thin socks. The toe box seems comfortable only with thick socks, until the shoe is broke in. Be prepared that these are stiff shoes at first. I have had about a week and today is the first day I kept them on even when I get off work for several hours. They look great with capris or jeans. I am not a fan of round laces, but I found if you tie your shoes wrapping around the loop counter clockwise, instead of clockwise, you do not have to double knot them and the bow lays prettier. I just skip them on and off and so far they have not came untied with a single knot since I got them! Overall... it’s a nice shoe, but just like all boat shoes.. you must break these bad boys in.
Would absolutely buy again. Ran true to size for me, comfy, cute, and lightweight. Perfect for what I needed, which was transitioning from office to processing floor throughout the day without needing to change shoes.
It’s so hard to find attractive steel toe boots. I bought these to hopefully have a nice alternative to my lace up calf boots in the summer. They look cute in the picture but they are much bulkier in person, particularly around the toe area. This is to be expected with steel toes but, like I mentioned, the pictures are a little bit misleading. They don’t feel like Sperries (which is what I was sort of hoping) and the shoes are very stiff. I feel like they could be broken in after a while but I don’t think I’ll be keeping them, they look very awkward with Bermuda shorts and my other work attire. Everyone has said it looks like I’m wearing bricks on my feet.On top of that I bought a 6.5 (pretty much my shoe size in everything, and I have a wide foot) and I have quite a bit of wiggle room in the toe and too wide.Bottom line, they’re not particularly comfortable but they’re definitely not uncomfortable. They look and feel awkward. Runs a bit big. Giving 3 stars because despite all the cons the shoes are very well made.
My work requires me to wear steel toe shoes and I got tired of wearing bulky ugly boots, so I started looking for something a little more fashionable and found these. These really fit well and are comfortable. They take about a week or two to break in but once you do they are comfortable for everyday wear. I wear these literally everyday and they get splashed with harsh chemicals and get wet everyday and have held up well. I like these shoes so much that I buy the same pair every year. I only buy a new pair every year because my company pays for a new pair every year, but after a year of heavy wear they are still in good condition and would probably last a lot longer. I highly recommend these shoes. The picture is of a brand new pair versus a year old pair.
These are great shoes if you have to spend a lot of time on your feet. Lighter than other steel toed shoes and cute as well!
