On my third pair...

...of these guys. As someone with peripheral neuropathy, foot discomfort and pain are the usual, so there's not much more important to my daily dress routine than my shoes. There's nothing that focuses your mind on the feel and fit of your shoes quite like chronic foot pain, and for the last 8 years or so, these have been my shoes.Since they're not listed on Sketchers website anymore, I think the product is discontinued, and remaining stock is NOS. A real shame, because these are awesome shoes. I've been wearing these for daily work (office/business casual, and managerial-type jobsite stuff), and they've been lasting about 2-3 years or so per pair there, then another several years of wear if you don't necessarily care what they look like--2 years of average use will scuff up any pair of shoes. One of the best aspects of this shoe is its ability to work in all types of environments, and if you're okay with shoes that look a little worn, you can wear these things for a very long time. I still wear my original pair if I'm doing something I know will be messy, muddy, oily, or whatever. The existing footbed and insole are fantastic--I really like Sketchers Relaxed Fit line. While I now wear prescription orthotics soles in my shoes (including these), the Sketchers Relaxed Fit insoles are very nice, about like having a brand new pair of quality drugstore insoles installed. Walk as far as you want, your feet will be as comfortable as they can be. These insoles will eventually wear out, but they will probably last longer than the outsoles; keep buying drugstore insoles to stretch the service life, because there will be plenty of life left when those give up.The toe box is nice and wide; nice if you've got some bunions or some such, as there's room for your toes to do what they gotta do, and space for them to be there. The upper is nice and sturdy; while they don't protect your feet as well as boots, they do protect them better than most shoes, and certainly most shoes you'd consider for a business casual dress code. They probably feel a little more like boots than office shoes, which I guess is fine by me.The outsole is thick rubber, which is awesome, but somewhat soft--great for comfort, less so for wear. The soles will be the first thing on these to start showing wear, and honestly, the outsoles wear much more quickly than they should. But, don't let those wearing soles fool you; still plenty of life left in the shoes, even after the soles wear down past the lugs (meaning the soles are almost completely treadless). The softer rubber compound provides more traction than you'd think in an urban environment, and provide plenty of purchase even after you've worn off the treads of the soles. The treads themselves aren't all that good to begin with--pretty shallow, large blocky lugs, absence of sipes. Whatever--the characteristics that make the soles wear poorly are the same characteristics that make them useful after the tread is gone. If you live in an environment that has an actual winter, with ice/snow, then you'll need something else for that season. While the upper is waterproof, and these will keep your feet warm and dry, they're not much good for snow (shallow lugs if new, non-existent lugs if not). The other great thing about the outsole is its width--very stable shoe. Its really important that folks that can't feel their feet have a stable, supportive step, and this shoe provides that in spades.Workmanship and QC has been outstanding on the pairs I've bought. Never had a stripped or dissecting seam, broken eyelet (those are metal), or the dreaded "total glue failure," where the outsole starts to curl out a little bit, then starts coming apart from the upper, ultimately resulting in most of the upper becoming unattached to sole. You know, floppy shoe. Never happened with these guys, and its not like its a close call.Perhaps best overall is the ability to put these guys on in the morning, regardless of my workday (office, traveling, jobsite, or just hiking around farmground) and know I'll be comfortable and stable, even with my terrible, terrible feet. Just ask yourself, why else would someone buy three pair of shoes with a known issue of quickly-wearing outsoles? Because they're the most comfortable shoes I own, that's why.Recommended. Kinda. I'd like to keep buying these for myself as long as I can.

Good Shoes - Comfortable

Good pair of shoes. Comfortable. Decent durability. This is my second pair. Got about a year and a half of heavy use out of first pair. At that point the insoles wore out. Feet feel great on concrete up to 12 hrs a day. Great shoes for the money.

Very sturdy shoe

I purchase these as a scratch and dent item but I don't see anything wrong with them. Since they're leather, they're a bit difficult to get on, But that's what shoe horns are for. Very comfortable very nice shoes.

Consistent design but lacks insole cushioning

I've worn similar color and style of Skechers for more than 10+ years. I was excited to buy a version with memory foam sole insert and a different style shoe bottom. Unfortunately, the shoe failed to provide the comfort needed to make it a worthwhile shoe. First lets talk about the positives. I've come to rely on this familiar style. Why? I'm a creature of habit so why change if something works just fine. I like the color and all. Also, I can be reassured that extra-wide size truly means, more room to accommodate my flat feet. I should not have to buy a size bigger just to get an acceptable fit. The materials are consistent as before, matted leather which holds it's shape for a long time. I like the cushion collar around the ankle area giving a moccasin like feeling. The shoe provides superior heel stability not allowing the ankle to roll. The overall rigidity is like a work boot but casual enough that it can pass for daily wear. Shoe laces are pre-strung on the shoe out of the box. They are made of strong woven material that almost never breaks or fade. The shoe tongue has enough cushion preventing the shoe laces from bruising the top of my feet. Overall, the shoe is like I said, consistently made and very reliable that could last a very long time. Now for the bad news. Let's start with "memory foam features". I can seriously say, "what memory foam?" I wore it for a day walking around for my work and my feet felt like I was walking on flip-flops over concrete pavement. Absolutely no cushion at all. I had to buy a gel orthotics sole insert from my local drug store to provide more cushion. I was truly excited about the memory foam feature but, the shoe failed to deliver on comfort. The good news is the shoe has plenty of room to accept such an insert without compromising the fit of the shoe. Another that's different is the bottom sole that touches the ground, it's not like the kind with large traction found on hiking boots. It's more like the kind you'll find on running shoes. It provides good traction on dry pavement but not sure on wet surfaces. I have yet to try it. Initially, the sole squeaked and made clicking noises but after a few hours, it was no longer noticeable. Back to comfort, on day one of full use, it was hard on my feet. Day two of full use, this time with a $12 gel insert, was better. Not sure if it matters but the older style, the upper layer of the shoe is stitched into the bottom sole. This new style is molded into the bottom which means someday, the upper layer might separate depending on how good the glue that used during manufacturing. I truly wanted to give the shoe high praises but just compare my old shoe, how worn, well loved but sturdy. The new shoe maybe pretty at first but could become a true nightmare as it ages. Only time will tell, I guess I must rely on my faith for this brand.
