Second pair. Hard to find good boots in a 4E with soft toe. I'll be sticking with these as long as they can be had. First pair lasted about 5 years (not a daily worn boot) so I may only need to buy one more, if that. The boot is comfortable, was broken in within the first five treks, is good looking, well made and well priced. Highly recommended.
I have to admit I "settled" for these Wolverines instead of Red Wing boots most guys at work seem to want. When they arrived, (sooner than promised) I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the boot. I have replaced the last in all my shoes with Spenco inserts for years as a simple matter of comfort. When I pulled the last out of the Wolverine it was pretty much equal to the Spenco! I put the original last back in and put them on for work. I saved the Spenco's for my Harley boots. I saddle soaped them because I still work outside when it rains. It didn't phase the appearance.Bottom line is this is a very high quality work boot at a good price that also goes great with a pair of Levi's on your days off. Way to go Wolverine!p.s. I was NOT compensated for this review, I just love these boots!
I've only had these boots for a week, but so far they've been great. They fit as expected. They have very good support. I did replace the insoles with powerstep insoles and they are a good bit more comfortable now. However, the stock insoles are about as good as stock insoles get, but I'm pretty picky about that stuff. I work in a warehouse on a cement floor all day and these keep my feet pretty comfy. I also spend a lot of time outside splitting wood and loading big logs in and out of trucks and the like. These are good for that type of work as well. And with this winter we're having I've been using them in the snow quite a bit and while my feet do get cold after a while, they do stay pretty dry. They look well built and solid. I don't foresee these falling apart on me and I plan to work them pretty hard. I will update if anything happens.
I’m picky!! First amazon review, out of three top choices I had I went with these, based on everything, looks, weight, comfortable, quality, it checks all the boxes, I’m happy I’ll try the other two choices next but will buy these for life hopefully they keep making them to rotate with my other boots.
I thought they were going to be lighter colored, but they’re darker than the picture. They’re pretty thin and don’t seem as durable…. Very very uncomfortable to break in. The one redeeming quality is the sole of the boot is solid. I would %100 recommend looking at another pit of Wolverine boots. They make a good product, but this is not one of them.
This is my 5th pair of Wolverine boots. I've tried Timberlands, Sketchers, and a pair of Craftsman but they all fail in comparison. I normally get about 1.5 years out of the Wolverines. As a helicopter mechanic, I'm on my feet more often than not and these provide plenty of support and cushion (although they are pretty stiff for a week when new). The tread pattern is slip resistant and it does work. I can walk through a puddle of hydraulic fluid and not look like a beginner figure skater. It's not very aggressive, however, and probably would not be ideal for walking in mud/sand/snow or other soft surfaces. These particular boots are not water-proof, but they do keep my feet dry in heavy rain as long as I avoid puddles.
The service was perfect....quick and packaged well. My husband is a mechanic and outdoors guy. These are his favorite boots. He gets a new pair about every 18 months, give or take. He has had 5/6 pair of them. The color on this pair is a bit lighter, I'm not sure why. He says the boots are comfortable and they hold up. When they are new he wears them with khakis or jeans. When his work ones get too worn he rotates them.
The boots arrived today. I took them out of the box and they look like a few others have already tried them on and returned them. There is no use on the soles but black marks and scuffs on the outside. I was going to were them for lawn care so I could have lived with that. I have wore this style for many years and the changes in these are not for the better. Inside the heal area there is a half moon piece of leather sown in. Also multi layers where the leather are sown in the heal higher up are rubbing my heal and outside bone on my ankel just walking a few steps. I know these will rub the back and side of my foot raw. There is no way these will work for anybody with the changes that have been made in design. I don't know what they were thinking? Maybe its the factory in China that screwed up who knows? I will need to return these and keep looking for something else that will work for me. Very Dissapointed.I called Wolverine this morning before returning the boots. David let me know this style boot is unlined and just raw leather inside with no padding or liner to protect your feet. I guess if you live where its cold and can wear thick socks year round they might work for you?
