ASICS continues their drive to innovate with their GEL-Kinsei 5. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

The 5 stars is for the quality, style, color and workmanship of the shoes. Asics is the best running shoes out there! I've ran a couple of marathon with this brand and about needing another one. However, I thought I ordered size 6, but it turned out it's size 7 when I got them. I am so disappointed that they don't have size 6 on this style. So, I had to return them and I bought another style which is " ASICS Men's Gel-Nimbus 16 Running Shoe,Titanium/Black/Red,6 M US, Sold by: Amazon.com LLC". When I received the shoes, I was amazed when I had them on my feet how comfortable and light the shoes are! They are molded on my feet. I have been searching for these comfortable great quality running shoes like these and my search was finally over! First day when I had them on, I ran about 3 miles and didn't want to stop running because it was that comfortable! I ran faster without fatique! Love these shoes!! I would definitely recommended to runners or non runners!
Just making is clear: I didn't have the chance to put them "in action" yet! Just used them to work a little bit (I'm a personal trainer), but at a first view, it's extremely comfortable and featherweight! It's perceptive the difference of weight when you compare with the Kinsei 4. Oh, and they're very good looking, too!Doesn't seem much durable as the previous version (I'm with my first Kinsei 4 for like 3 years), but let's see if it withstand the purpose it was made for (I run like 8 to 12 miles/week).For a first feedback, I'm pretty satisfied with these shoes.
This is yet the best Kinsei style and perhaps the best overall running shoe for most people out by Asics. It fits to the size; is comfortable yet, stable and snug; and feels lighter than ever before. Just as well, it looks great in design and entirely like the pictures in the online page or advertisements. Highly recommended. Go Asics and forget about others especially Nike!!!
Excellent fit and comfort. Use them for running and kicking around. Although u may not b able to tell from the photo the shoes are vented with little small holes all over which greatly improve air flow and hell tplo keep your feet cool. Very satisfied, worth the money and I'm cheap when it comes to sneakers :-)
I have worn these shoes for a few weeks and am very happy with them so far. I will try by best by explaining what i believe are the pros, cons and what i think of this shoe in as few words as possible. As i have a ton of shoes, i do not use them as intended. Meaning this is a running shoe, but i do absolutely no running, no cross training, no track and field. i just go the the gym, lift some weights, do some traveling and go to work. So i do not put my shoes through a lot of stress.Pros: The shoe is light, my feet stay cool and the support seem good. Compared to the nike air max++ (i have every year from 2010), the asics are not as soft. The Nike's feel like your walking on air.Now they are more comfortable than the Nike Free Run 5.0, but do not hold your foot as tight (i have a narrow foot).Cons: Size runs smaller than expected, so don't blind buy without trying your size. I have Asics now in 7.5, 8 an 8.5. The in soles are slippery, every pair of socks slide making the shoe feel not secure to your feet.I see where people complain about the durability of the shoe as some of the heat applied black strips are already coming off and the mesh material is light and lets your feet breath, but looks like it can easily rip from intended use (running) or getting snagged on something. This shoe is not worth the retail price of $200, or not even $179. If you can get these shoes at $150 or below, i believe they are worth it.The way i use sneakers, these work just fine, only time will tell me how the stitching, materials and glue hold up. The color and style i believe are a little more unique than most sneakers, so i guess you trade some durability for style.I would buy this shoe again as this is my second pair.
I love these shoes. I have been an Asics fan for many years and have run in each of the Kinsei models since they first came out. This is the third pair of the Kinsei 5's I have ordered this year as I carefully track my mileage and tend to replace my shoes when I hit about 500 miles or so. Typically I "retire" them for non-tuning uses. These fit true to size and are much lighter and much more comfortable than previous models the only down side to the Kinsei models is that they are quite a bit more expensive than other Asics models. Amazon is a great place to buy them as they are about $50-75 less than a lot of the other major online running retailers out there.
I have purchased ASICS running shoes for twenty years and this is the poorest quality shoe I have ever bought from them. Within a month or two of purchase, the top of the shoe where the toe sits began to split and get holes in it. I only use the shoes to go for a walk a few times each week. I should have listened to all the other online reviews before purchasing this shoe as all the quality complaints are obviously true. There is no other noticeable wear on the shoe except for the holes above the toe. The material used for the shoe upper is of a very poor quality and rips very quickly. I will not be buying another pair of asics running shoes again. They were US $199.95 and a complete waste of money.I also bought a pair of asics tennis shoes at the same time that have a leather upper and they are great.
The best sport running shoes in the world - at least for me! They're ASICS... what more can you say?!If you can afford to spend 30% more on good running shoes, then forget Nike, Adidas, Reebok and the rest of the 2nd place ranked products and go for ASICS. They are engineered to comfort you and make running/jogging or simply walking a real pleasure...I get the feeling I am walking on air...
