The GEL-Sonoma 3 shoe is designed with a rugged outsole pattern to equip the off-road adventurer with more control while navigating the rugged terrain. A reinforced toe guard protects against rocks and dirt on the trail, while the ortholite sockliner delivers optimal comfort. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

I purchased these shoes to wear at work, and they've been a life saver!I work in retail and in general spend a lot of time on my feet. My feet do supinate slightly, and I have average arches and a medium width to my feet. These shoes fit true to size and are very comfortable. It took a day or two for my feet to adjust to the drop and the soles of these, but after that initial couple days, they've been a dream! The shoe molds really nicely around the heel and the laces are a very nice quality so they don't loosen up. I've been wearing these shoes every other day (I do alternate work shoes so that I don't wear through them too quickly) for a few months now and they've held up incredibly well! No weird compression in the soles and the upper fabrics still look like they did when I first got the shoes.Additionally, I usually find that I need to change out the insoles on most shoes I buy in order to get good arch support as well as cushioning, but I haven't felt the need to replace what already comes in these shoes. My arches don't hurt and the balls of my feet don't get sore.
Great shoes, love them, however go one size up. They run a bit small. I wear them at work and I am on my feet all day, they are supportive and comfortable.
I'm surprised at how nicely these shoes fit and perform. Other reviewers said the toe box was too narrow, but the shoe fit fine for me. I ordered one size up and they fit perfect. I am wearing them when I go for long hikes on wooded trails in a state park. They really provide good support and my feet don't hurt after a long walk. They are reasonably priced for the quality!
I bought these since I'm gaga over the Sonoma 3 running shoe and was thrilled that it has the same fit. The difference is in the tread - not as bouncy as the running shoe but still great for walking/working. As with the running shoe, I replaced the short shoe strings - I have thin feet and have to use the heel lock hole to tighten up the fit. My toe doesn't hit the end like with some Asics models. The 'B' width is perfect for narrow feet, they accommodate orthotics and they look great. The only issue is that on one shoe there's a small pucker at the seam where the the material meets the rubber but I filled the tiny opening with waterproof glue. I love the shoe too much to send it back and wait for a new pair. I ordered another pair in a different color and their were no flaws in that pair.
I loved the color but only wore them twice before giving away because the arch support was not good enough and the toe box not wide enough for my foot. I bought the Asic Nimbus instead that are now perfect.
Not the first time we've purchased these shoes. They're comfortable and good looking, but this pair had a manufacturing flaw. The front edge of the tongue, where it's stitched to the shoe's upper, was deformed and stuck down, causing discomfort in the top of the foot. Another pair i have doesn't have this condition, so it's very likely a manufacturing flaw and not a design flaw. Unfortunately, it was bad enough that we decided to return them.
Great fit and support right out of the box. Wonderful support and cushion through the arch and toe box. The most comfortable shoe for walking, cross training, aerobics. The only problem is with the fabric on the medial side of the ankle in that it tears (perhaps due to rubbing/hitting against other shoe). I will continue to buy these shoes!
I simply love the brand Asics, it has been my go to shoe brand for all my running needs. I have a normal arch and alight inward step with a shoe size of 7.5. In Asics I wear an 8 (as they tend to run .5 size smaller). This is an amazing shoe for trail running and people who do not run on sidewalks, pavement or treadmill. I highly recommend to any trail runner with a normal or high arch.Your arch and step depends on what shoe style works better for you. Athletic shoes are not a one size fits all.
