These shoes fit well and are comfortable and durable. They are a great value for the price. I’m a heel striker when I run, and am a larger than average runner (>200 lb). I usually wear out shoes quickly. I have put 165 miles on these (road running) so far, and they are holding up very well. I have only had 2 pairs of shoes last me over 250 miles, and those were somewhat more expensive than these. Based on the way these feel at 165 miles, I’m hopeful that these will last for another 100 miles of running or better. Definitely a great value compared to other shoes I have used. This is my first pair of Brooks, and I am definitely a fan!
Brooks are my go-to walking and running shoes now. They hold up and are super comfortable. Highly recommend.
Made for long distance running. Light weight, very comfortable, and nice looking. My first pair lasted almost a year and a half of running five miles weekly on graveled trails in nice weather, drizzling rain and snow, until the sides just started to separate, yet the soles still had a good amount of their studs left. I always have two pairs so I have another ready to go when the former live out their life. I always buy Brooks.
Very comfortable
Nice fitting
Extremely light, comfortable shoes. Usually, shoes require some break-in but these are perfect from the first. I usually have to buy a 12 or 13 size and fit is hit or miss. Rare 12 1/2 size available and they were perfect.
very nice shoes
I bought due to good reviews a value pick, even achieving an Editor's Choice from Runners World. I have had good experience with Brooks shoes in the past as well.I'm a mid-foot striker and where my previous Brooks pairs had smaller midfoot drops, this shoe has a 12mm drop. While that might be OK for heel-strikers, for me at least, this shoe creates an enormous amount of leg fatigue. Where I can run comfortably 10+ miles in Saucony's Kinvara 12 as well as numerous others shoes including other Brooks pairs, in these Traces, my legs are exhausted after 6-7 miles. Even on shorter 5K and 5 mile runs, there is a huge difference in recovery as well compared to other shoes. Further, the transition feels energy-depleting - I feel as though all the stored up energy from my landing is completely lost when I transition to push-off. It's only 1.4 ounces heavier than Kinvara 12s, which feel wonderfully light, supportive, and natural, and I've certainly run in heavier shoes, so I have to imagine the combination of a big midfoot drop, awkward transition, and overall package is just not a great one for my needs.I actually planned to use it just for the 3-4 mile walks my wife and I take, but even then, it's remarkable how fatiguing these shoes are compared to most other shoes I've worn.I have also noticed it rubs my achilles a bit, which has been an issue with some shoes in the past, so if you've had similar issues, worth noting this problem.I won't buy Traces again, but they may still be a good fit for some. Personally, I'm going to stick with the lighter running shoes with less severe drops. Brooks makes many excellent pairs of those -- it's not the brand, it's just this particular design.
