Needed something for casual bicycle exercise during winter months, as well as hiking in cold or wet. Cannot speak to waterproof/resistance, but definitely has cut down on the cold toes a bit during rides/hikes! Toes still cold, but not frozen. I like medium to narrow, but not too narrow. These hit that sweet spot. If you have wide feet, they are flexible, so if you have time to try, can't go wrong. If you want to be certain first time, well... Well made, good fit for my feet! True to size.

Took a couple of tries to get the size right. Of course this is a sure thing with Amazon's simple returns. The regular width is actually very narrow, and the wide is just right. Even New Balance says go big on their web site. I use my favorite aetrex sport orthotics to give me a good arch support. I think New Balance wanted a base shoe that could be modified for those people who want it tight, or comfortable, no arch or with arch etc.Once you get it set up for how you like it, then it is a superb shoe, whether running, hiking or walking. The gore tex works great in a wet meadow sopping with morning dew. The heel stability is amazing and makes going over uneven bumpy ground a breeze, with major support and ankle protection. On flat ground whether outside or inside they are a joy. Every step like floating on air, with lots of protection against twisting. I love them and wear them all day every other day, rotating with my New Balance 847's.

I was looking for a shoe to wear that’s great for being outdoors in a casual way where the weather is cold and wet. These shoes are not overly warm but breathe really well and have excellent tread. The bounce in the soles make long days of walking really comfortable, especially as a bigger guy with knee problems.

I really like them. They run small. I normally take an 114E and in these I had to get an 11 1/2 and put expensive orthotics in them (like $100 for the insoles), but they are so comfortable and supportive. The only drawback for me is I hate laces.

Bought these for my son, he has foot pain, but says these don’t leave his feet hurting. Quality product, and super comfy.

I liked the mid cut model, light, appearance and grip

They look nice! Cheaply made & they state x wide! They aren't wide enough for my needs. I went to lace them up & the lace snapped, not a good quality of foot wear.

These are a perfect blend of hiking shoe and walking shoe. They are super comfortable and have a slight boot feel which gives extra support and trail confidence. I have tried alot of different trail shoes and these take the cake. This is my second pair the other pair I got in blue. If your looking for a true boot type hiking/walking shoe without the weight and clunkyness of a boot these are it. New Balance are my go to shoes and they got it right again with these hybrid boot/sneaker.
